The Ba Sing Se Times, Issue 59: 19 January
With 2014 well underway, the time comes again to take stock of what we gained and lost this past year as the celebrations end and people get back to business - and as always, things have changed quite a bit. With the second season of the Legend of Korra passing with relatively less fanfare, we mark the first on-peak decrease of registered editor participation in the wiki's history - though off-peak numbers remain stable.

It is probably without contention that many have noticed the recent disabling of comments on this wiki. Maybe even more so, older users have likely noted the lack of outrage and passion that once characterized a good majority of users and hard-line commenters in June of 2012 - when that other historical bid to remove the system was met with stubborn, and almost insurmountable, resistance; translating into pages and pages of back-and-forth arguments. It seems in the span of a little more than a year, most of that sentiment - and the users that once stood for them - have all but disappeared. All that really remains is a widespread apathy to what was once an integral part of our community, as well as some interesting analysis as to the, sadly…

It's that time again, people of Avatar Wiki! And boy, do we have a brib... I mean, issue for those of you waiting for the latest iteration of the BSST for what seems to be (and probably has been) a sad few months. The rampant inactivity, having taken its toll even upon the staff and robbing us of the genius that was our deputy editor WaterbenderTaikai, has similarly sapped our time to showcase the best our wiki has to offer. However, hopefully, we've made up for that loss by ensuring that our readers can enjoy a beefy edition this time around, while having brought in a fresh new face, Chakrasandwich, who we believe will do The Ba Sing Se Times legacy proud.

We are sorry to inform you that the BSST is not dead. Ahem. May I repeat: the BSST is not dead! We, the extremely loopy and apathetic staff, have brought upon ourselves the grand task of informing and "spreading the love" on this wiki... But unfortunately for you (and us), you probably picked the wrong people for the job! Well, you didn't really pick at all, but... (cue wild applause here)
