This is my opinion, PLEASE don't get to angry over it.

Intro[]

Hello! In this blog post I'll be reviewing the eleventh episode of Avatar, the infamous Great Divide.

Pros of the episode[]

The chibi art style used while is telling his story.

The chibi art style used while Aang is telling his story.

  • The episode adds lots to the Avatar world (Tribes, natural formations, fauna etc).
  • The episode has an interesting conflict, no one is sure which side of the argument is correct, if either.
  • The animation looks great, they really went above and beyond to have Avatars signature style, a smooth and grand looking art style for the Gan Jins side of the story, a more crazy and abstract style for the Zhangs side of the story, and a chibi style for Aang's side of the story. Another cool thing about the extra art styles is that they portray the character's personalities.
  • The egg custard tart looks really tasty in my opinion.

Cons of the episode[]

  • The resolution is lazily written and entirely based on plot-convenience. Do you really think a tribe of fully grown adults would fall for Aang's lie? (Notice:This is the only con as I think it is especially bad, and also it's Avatar lol)

Rating[]

I think the episode is definitely over-hated, but that's probably because by Avatars standards it's not amazing, and has a giant flaw, so I would rate it at around 7.5/10.

How the ending could've been fixed[]

Instead of having Aang lie, which is really lazy, they could've had Aang fail to fix the conflict, which would've supported the next episode, The Storm, where Aang doubts himself as the Avatar.

Thanks[]

Have this tasty egg custard tart as a thank you gift!
