Tiqriganiannig, often simply called Tiq, was a business magnate from the Southern Water Tribe. During the era of Roku, she was the richest person in the entire South.[1]

History[]

Tiq made her vast fortune shipping Southern textiles and art through the Earth Kingdom, eventually becoming the richest person in the Southern Water Tribe. She was an avid supporter of chieftain Qanitt of Whale Harbor and their efforts to expand the tribe's economic reach, and often proudly reminded people that her imports regularly inspired the newest fashion trends in the Earth Kingdom.[1]

She was not shy about throwing her money around, and financially supported "freedom fighters" in the Earth Kingdom who hoped to unseat Earth King Jialun, though her primary concern was that taxes on her shipments might be lower with someone else in charge.[1]

Tiq worked to fund the Unity seafaring vessel, along with various learning institutes across the world. It was built around the time of Fire Lord Sozin's coronation with the accumulated knowledge of technological institutes. After its completion, the Unity sought to embark on a year-long trek to visit all the different nations, sharing their studies and technology in a gesture of togetherness, thus spearheading a technological renaissance. Unfortunately, nearly all the ruling bodies of the world, and a few of Tiq's rivals, wished to stop the voyage. Many governments viewed the Unity as an attempt to deploy spies all over the world. Meanwhile, Tiq's rivals were jealous of her success and wished to see the massive ship sunk.[4]
