  • Just wanted to say welcome back (I've been sporadically off and on, myself) and that it's good to have intelligent conversation again especially as you saved me some time/grief on at least a couple threads.

    • Thanks!  Just haven't been here much, between the fandom being kind of dead (if somewhat revived by Imbalance lately) and having just moved across the state; even so.

    • I feel ya. That Fanboy thread needed to die/couldn't die soon enough (I only came back to read the tail end of it because of how predictable/monotonous it was getting after I said my peace) and recently re-reading his last thread made me realize either of us could've just copy-pasted the same clapbacks (ex. Neo's) to save us the time from how repetitive it was. Dude really needs help or to grow up or something.

On a more positive note, I do have a new thread in mind that I hope to post today (assuming weather and/or distractions aren't too much of a problem).

    • I was hoping you'd come back, because I'd like to stay in touch with the few people on GD I enjoyed talking to (disregard the fact that I'm about 2 weeks late here). It's a shame I never see HolyDragon anymore. I kind of miss owning trolls & hearing of Deviantart drama, but it's just such a shitshow anymore.

How many times do the likes of Fanboy & Planck have to keep slithering back from whatever rock they're hiding under before the moderation realizes the reason nobody wants to hang around is because the inmates are running the asylum &, stops being so tepid? Oh well, at least basically calling Saitrumper a deplorable was amusing.

Please refrain from making disparaging and personal attacks against other users. Comments like these are in no way helpful.

If you feel that a thread or discussion requires the input of a moderator or administrator, you can leave a message on the admin noticeboard asking for it be be reviewed. If you feel a user has broken one of the policies on the wiki, you can again do the same.

On a personal note, I try to review all discussions as best I can, but I accept that I may at times miss something or overlook a particular comment. You are always free to leave a message on my wall, and I will be more than happy to take a look at a discussion or to reconsider a decision if so requested. You can also message another moderator or administrator if you feel my decision was incorrect and wish for a second opinion.

    • I'd been thinking about leaving GD for months before I did it. I hate the idea of giving people who called me a cultist, abuse supporter, KKK member & worse what they want, & wouldn't have done it if I thought the problem could be solved with a few reports. Several of those occurred IN the Admin Noticeboard. One guy was warned a couple times.

Even if I was willing to redouble my efforts, pursue these issues more assertively, the vitriol tends to increase when I do. On top of that, feigning civility with that crowd makes me bitter & irritable. I'm really not sure what it's supposed to "help." At this point it's just not really viable for me to keep using that forum if it's just going to devolve into endless rhetorical Chess with trolls.

    • Ah the gangs all here.

Idk what's been going on but the forum discussions have always been a problem and I think that probably something can and should be done about it. Things like repititious threads ("why Korra sucks!" "Who's the better Avatar,"), thread necromancy, flame wars... all of this should not be on a wiki (which is primarily a wiki and not a discussion forum) that is dedicated to providing canonical content (not heated ship battles) of a series.

So what would that even look like? Just increased moderation? A separate place for these kinds of discussions? A discord (heh heh).

    • I know there are already some Avatar Discord channels, but not one for this site (as far as I know).  And I'd be glad to pick up any moderation slack that needs doing if they'd have me; even so.

You can always make a request on the requests for moderator rights page if you want to. It would be good to have some more moderators on the forums.
