  • Hey KMP,

I was trying to create a page on VfD for Avatar Wiki:IRC guide/Nick warning but for some reason I seem to be incapable of doing so. Not sure if namespace is causing it or the slash is, but since you wrote the current VfD I thought I'd bring it to your attention.

    • The VfD page hasn't been working for several years now, as far as I'm aware. I remember quite a while back I tried to make a VfD for Brittney Williams since she was no longer going to be the artist for Turf Wars but it didn't work, so I spoke to Lostris about it and deleted it. Just some more information on the situation.

    • Interesting, can you expand on how it didn't work? As in, it didn't take you to the edit page after you entered the name and pressed the button? I copy/pasted

      Avatar Wiki:IRC guide/Nick warning

and it worked for me. Which browser are you using as well, and what version?

@FireFerret: you should have brought it up with me as well. I had no idea it wasn't working for some people.

    • Hm, that's weird it *does* appear to be working now, I wonder if it's an error with the create new topic button? I believe that's what I used (although it was over a year ago, my memory isn't super).

    • @FireFerret: Can you try creating that VfD?

    • The one I was speaking about was for a page that wound up getting deleted regardless and is gone, do you mean trying to post a dummy VfD?

        Loading editor
    • Recreate the one I deleted.

    • I attempted to do so using the create a page through the search bar on the VfD page, it doesn't seem to have been created or be showing up.

    • Thanks! I really hope you don't mind me using you as a labrat for this. Clearly, there is something wrong with the inputbox, and I'm not sure if it's because the MediaWiki extension was updated and broke stuff. I've switched to the old createbox style which is used by the War Room.

@FireFerret: Can you please try it again?

EDIT: Actually, it may not have anything to do with what I've mentioned above. So don't worry if it doesn't work this time either.

    • Sorry, I missed this, yeah I'll try again.

        Loading editor
    • Yeah I tested it, I still don't think it worked.

    • Sorry, I should have been more specific. I copied in Avatar Wiki:IRC guide/Nick warning and was able to see the edit page. I typed my comments in and hit publish and then it redirected me to the VfD page with no page published. I checked my contribs and I did not see anything in there to indicate that I had hit the publish button nor did I see anything in RC. I'm running Chrome 60 on macOS.

I just tried again and it did not work.

    • Yep, I think the problem was with the js. I've changed it, but until the script is approved I won't really know if the problem has been fixed - since I need one of you to test it. I'll update this thread when that happens.

    • Sounds good!

    • Echo. Hopefully staff won't take too long to approve the JS updates.

    • Could one of you test it now?

    • I tried-- it's still not working :/

    • Most peculiar. I tried in Chrome 60 but it did not work, however once I tried in Safari 9.1.2 it did work. So I guess it's browser end? I didn't bother to clear cache on Chrome though.

Weird-- it appears to have worked for TF. I'm going to conclude it might just be an error on my end then since I've been having weird wikia related errors for the past couple of days.

Huh, I'm on FireFox 55.0.3 and it didn't work for me.

    • Then, there still seems to be a problem. I'm using Chrome 60 as well, so it doesn't necessarily mean it's a browser related issue. I will let you both know when I need another test, if you don't mind.

    • You're the one doing all the work while I'm here reporting bugs. I'm more than happy to test for you- least I can do (plus it's a great distraction from college apps).

        Loading editor
    • Alright, I need a retest, if one of you would be so kind.

        Loading editor
    • Okay!

    • Yeah, still having issues. :/

    • One thing I noticed-- today I attempted to edit the VfD TF created and I was having issues with that too, it seems whatever the problem is it's not inherent to the creation of a page but editing the page altogether. I hope this information is of some help!

        Loading editor
    • Yep that helps. I've submitted a few changes, and I'm sure this time it will work. The execution is a bit less subtle though... You'll see anyway, because I'll personally ask you to test it after the script goes live!
