  • Hello. I'm new to this wiki (although not wikis in general).

I've started binge watch Avatar, and I have some questions

If there are spirits of Sea and Moon, then does that mean there are spirits of the sun, earth and sky/wind?

Yes, I know Air/Earth/Firebenders didn't learn bending from spirits like Waterbendesr did, but wouldn't their sorces (Air, Earth and sun) need spirits as well?

    • I don't know about your progress on the show, but in the episode "The Great Divide" earth spirits have been mentioned and are said to have created the canyon / to be responsible for its state. Other than that instance, I don't think earth/fire/air spirits have been mentioned, neither in A:TLA, TLoK or the comics.

I'm over a quarter of the way through "Earth" but I've already spoiled alot of the shows law for myself (mostly by accident) I know anout how Air/Firebenders learned bending, I know about the Lion Turtles and I know Zuko joins Aang.

But yes. I do recall now Earth spirits being mentioned.

Y'know, I always assumed the joke there was that his explanation was obviously wrong & superstitious--though not necessarily that earth spirits don't exist--but apparently the ice spring was caused by spirits, so now I'm not so sure.

    • It seemed pretty clear to me that the guide staged the rockslide in order to make himself look heroic.  It was scary and could have been genuinely dangerous if there hadn't been an earthbender present; but it was also easy for him to deflect and a bit too conveniently timed.

On the other hand: General Old Iron and the crabby crag were definitely real.
