I've been very aware that many people say they can tell Asami Korra in book 3 she is really in love with her and to know that Mako does not belong to it and it is best to leave the avatar :)

It most certainly is not real. They didn't get together until Book 4.
You've done well octavio now it's time for you to accomplish your destiny and reveals the secrets of the Universe!!! (And illuminati)
I believe they are both bi but Korra would be more ready to admit it. Oh well, guess it's too advanced for nickelodeon right now- sad.
CRYING OMG I'd forgotten about this...
If it's any consolation, here's a sampling of what I said about Korrasami back then:

Again: yes, if we conclude that Korra's preferences run to tall, rangy, and raven-and-ivory, Asami would be a better choice than Mako.
But again: the morl gardyunz would storm the gates of Nickelodeon if the studio hooked two girls up with each other. Therefore, it's not going to happen.
Boy, is my face red. But in my defense, I didn't think they'd dare.
I don't see how the fact that Korra and Asami didn't actually begin a romantic relationship until Book 4(and the end of it, at that) in any way invalidates the incontrovertible fact that they did. Not least because, to me at least, they have been laying the ground work for it as far back as Book 3.
I will add that I watched LoK before I joined this site and knew much about the different ships, so I went in with no expectations whatsoever - hell, I half-expected Korra to get back together with Tall, Bland and Handsome(Mako) eventually...and I still saw the buildup to Korrasami happen. I got to that final scene, and I remember thinking "Holy s***, did they seriously just go there? AWESOME."
So yeah. Regardless of when it happened...the fact remains that it did. As Korra would say, "You gotta deal with it!"
Not saying you have to like it. If you don't, that's your prerogative. But.it happened, and it's real.
I speculated that it might happen, but also said I doubted it. I don't get to gloat OR feel surprised. :(
'Cause the thread specified "Book 3." Look at the title.
Touché. I'll accept that the original poster's assertion that it would happen in Book 3 did not materialize - although Book 3 did lay a lot of groundwork, from my viewpoint, and ultimately it did happen in Book 4.
But yes, if we restrict ourself to Book 3 alone, the most you could call it is laying the groundwork, and possibly ship-teasing.
They were definitely building up to it in Book 3. Aside from their own words, Avatar Parallels has some examples of how they mimicked "Kataang."

I didn't mean that Korrasami wasn't real. I meant that while Korra and Asami started getting 'shipteased in Book 3 (and I maintain that they were, in fact, being 'shipteased that early) and always had more chemistry with each other than either of them had with Mako, they didn't officially get together until the series finale. So the original poster wasn't actually right on all counts.
My misunderstanding, then. Mea culpa. If that's what you meant, then we are in agreement.
Way I see it, Book 3 was about laying the groundwork, establishing a close friendship between the two - and yeah, ship-teasing the hell out of the pairing. And I enjoyed watching the relationship grow and build across three and into 4, culminating in that ending. What I loved about it is that the ending, in and of itself, is just open enough that those who still have a problem with it could choose to interpret it differently - obvious though it was to me that it was intended to signal the beginning of a romantic relationship, a fact that was confirmed by Bryke later.
