Haha. Timely.|
I actually have my own Bumi head cannon where he dates Firelord's son for a long while. They punch pirates in the face and collect booty and have nautical themed cabin boy sex. Is that weird?
I think it's because I secretly expected at least one slashy relationship among the mains to be boring and disingeniune, tacked on or with an annoying character. As most cartoons and animes are usually bland, vague or covering up gay subtext. I actually admired the thoughtful depiction of teenage romance.
I think I really want Sokka/Zuko or Zutara to be a thing, and this is a cool surrogate. The Powerless boy who grew up with the Water Tribe and the prissy and snooty fire prince(ss) Its a shame that Mei was actually such a cool character. I think it literally broke all shipping of Zuko, at least in my head.
Sure it fits the tropes to fit him with Sokka or Katara, but they actually set up Zuko in a healthy normal relationship that gave him a lot of comfort and he valued. So its really hard to find enough of a gap in the tightly written story for him to not only experiment with boys but betray Mei once their relationship gets going.
I could see people experiment and Toph herself, doesn't seem too hung up on strict rules.
So having the Bumi date a Fire Princeling or Kya end up there would actually solve a lot of problems. And Kya and Bumi are a matched set. Like Katara and Sokka were. I could see them having terrible Sexual misadventures with Royals and bragging about it and giving Katara an aneurysm. As her kids would think every booty call with one of Zuko's kids it was a live action version of Romeo and Juliet.
And Zuko tried and cranky just giving up the ghost and letting whatever happen as long as it doesn't spook the dragons. Walking around with a permanent Migraine
