I was wondering - in the series, it has been shown that, while a source of heat (like a fuse or a burning arrow) has been able to set off blasting jelly at a distance, in the episode "The Waterbending Master", the Pirates who sneak on board Zuko's ship treat the blasting jelly as if it were nitroglycerin, that too much shock would set it off as well. Perhaps that is the real mechanism behind the Ice Torpedoes, that they are simply ice-encased blasting jelly capsules that explode on contact with a solid object? It would certainly make sense in a number of ways, and for those who would argue a fuse was needed, perhaps that is only to set the jelly off at a distance, in a controlled fashion as to avoid the injury of those employing the jelly? It would also be in line with the appearance of the bombs dropped by the Fire Nation Airships, which do not seem to have any sort of a burning fuse, yet explode upon severe disrupting contact, such as being hit with Waterbending or impacting the ground, but not when being caught in a gentle way by Master Huu's plantbending. --68.177.128.33 10:06, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
