I only undid this because an IP made it into a red link, so I took it as vandalism. Didn't look at firebending, sorry. Energybender 02:39, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Quote[]
Wouldn't a better quote be
"He's the first person ever to leave the army and live. I'm the second, but you don't get to be a legend for that." |

"Holding the Title"[]
The introduction states:
- "He held the title of being the second person to desert the Fire Nation army and live..."
The statement is absurd on its face.
A) The army has over a hundred years of history.
B) "Holding the title" implies that there is a verifiable list of deserters. There is none.
C) He may believe it, but that does not make it more plausible.
D) The way it is written makes it seem as if it is an absolute fact, not an in-universe unverified statement.
E) His statement: "He's the first person ever to leave the army and live. I'm the second..." is itself suspect: Jeong Jeong might still be killed or captured, as might Chey or any of the others with them. Keep in mind that every single deserter before Jeong Jeong lived for at least a while; assuming that every single deserter in the previous hundred years was eventually killed or captured, while they were on the run, an objective observer could legitimately say that "this is the first deserter to live".
F) The ONLY way that this can be a factual statement is if Jeong Jeong recieves a pardon from the Fire Lord OR if he dies of natural causes.(Note: Yes, he was a member of the Order of the White Lotus, so Zuko may be more than willing to pardon him, but this would be pure, unsubstantiated speculation, since he could also have chosen to "ride off into the sunset", died of a heart attack five minutes after the end credits roll or decided that his honor was more important than his life.)
His statement is not in question. It's accuracy is. Instead of "He holds the title", I used "He claimed to be", which is less speculative, more objective and more accurate than what is written. Alternately, "he stated that he was" might also be objective enough to suit the high standards of this wiki.
