That was an example of my work. 4myself4 17:30, 10 July 2008 (UTC) For episodes? I'd do this:

Linkbox Template

If you don't mind me saying, the box at the bottom with all the article links is far too big. Perhaps it could be broken down into link boxes for smaller categories such as "characters," "episodes," etc. DanMat6288 21:31, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

We're working to make it collapsible. Omnibender 23:47, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
You know, some Wikias like the DC Animated Universe Wiki have different navboxes for specific groupings, such as "Members of the Justice League" or "Project Cadmus." Couldn't Avatar Wiki do that? DanMat6288 00:46, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
I am pretty sure we do that, and please sign your name with four tildes (~) Felinoel 16:16, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
There aren't many groups here for us to do that, DC Comics has MANY more characters and MANY more elements, Avatar doesn't have as many. Omnibender 00:13, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
Still, the nav box is ridiculously large, in my humble opinion. Anyway, something you could ask the DCAU Wiki people is how to make nav boxes collapsable, because they've done it with their "Members of the Justice League" one. I checked the code for "Template:JusticeLeagueMembers," but I didn't see what code it was that allowed them to do that. But still, their administrator might know something Avatar Wiki's doesn't. DanMat6288 00:46, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
As mentioned, we're working on it, we already know where the code to make it collapsible is, we just don't have a member who's good enough with coding to apply the codes. If you know someone who is, please contact the admins. Omnibender 18:27, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

New Featured Article

Ty Lee has been featured for at least a week. Let's get a new article, people. Fire Lord Spilledmilk 15:08, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Here are some ideas for a new featured article: Freedom Fighters, Dock/Xu/Bushi, or Wulong Forest (Many don’t know what this is, it is the site of Aang’s climactic battle, so if it is featured, more will know as well) Energybender 15:23, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
The point of a featured article is to show off the best articles that the wiki has to offer, not to bring attention to small ones. No featured article should be a stub. Howabout1-(Talk) 05:58, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Site News

I'm not familiar with how the site news and this page is setup (yet) so would someone mind adding to the site news that the game Avatar: Legends of the Arena has been released, thanks. Joey - Talk 21:07, 24 September 2008 (UTC) I think that Nickelodeon should have another series based in the Avatar world, but instead of having Aang as the main character, it should take place after Aang has die and their is a new avatar recently born, or something. It would be cool if the characters were just a group of kids from the different nations.

I think that there should be a new section on the main page. There is info on the site news section (admin requests, Community portal) that is useful, but it's not really news in every sense of the word. The 888th Avatar - Talk 08:35, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Happy New Year

I just wanna say that, where I live (Belgium), It's new year tonight, so HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all Waterkai 17:41, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

I think we should add a poll to the new page. What do you guys think? I have one on my userpage at the moment, and they are really handy and neat. Joey - Talk Contribs 08:22, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

I think it's a great idea - as long as it doesn't get out of hand. The 888th Avatar - Talk 08:27, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Fan Sites

I would like to make a proposal to attempt to increase site traffic. We should make a new section with links to the major fan sites, like they do on many Entertainment wikis. They will in turn link back to us. Everyone wins - we get more editors, they get more viewers. The 888th Avatar - Talk 12:05, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

I'm worried about avatar fanon wiki, where I'm active on. We have problemes with vandals, votes for deletion and other things. The administrators haven't been online for a while, and I really need help in finding a user named 'Paperclipchains' on an other wikia. Please help me! Kai 14:28, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Uh huh. Finding him shouldn't be too hard. If he's on any Wikia wiki, he would see that you have posted on his talk page. In the meantime, I might stray to the Fanon wiki to clear some vandalism. The 888th Avatar (Talk) 00:47, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

Bullet Statements

Is is just me, or do the bullets on the main page sections look a little "askew"? Why is this? --Energybender 23:10, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

I've reported the possible problem, it's pending. The 888th Avatar (Talk) 03:36, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. --Energybender 04:17, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

It's been happening for a week. I think they changed the code so that the bullet comes in the middle (hieghtwise) of the text it bullets. That is the problem. It should be at the top. Zero Sign - Zero - Talk 05:51, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Plus it's happening all over wikia. Not just this wiki but all the others as well. Zero Sign - Zero - Talk 06:18, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

	<HuggleBear>	No.
<uberfuzzy>	both of those have indeed been reported
<uberfuzzy>	i'll add a note to the ticket, see if it can get taken care of sooner

That's when I told him about it, so it's in process. Joey - Talk Contribs 06:03, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

Recent Changes

Why was the "Recent Changes" notice moved? I like to know what changes the various articles are undergoing, to see if they have anything new to offer. I think this should be restored under the "Top Content" tab. Please consider. 02:51, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

That little link was outdated and inefficient, on the left you may notice "Recent Changes" right under the sidebar, that will link you to Special:Recentchanges, a direct link to the last edits upon refresh. Both are easier to manage, more efficient, and show more than four or five articles. Thanks. Joey - Talk Contribs 02:54, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Also, if you only want to show article edits in "Recent changes", you can do that by selecting that option. The 888th Avatar (Talk) 02:56, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Completely true, and perhaps you should create an account so your preferences are saved. There should now be a link on your IP's talk page to do so, and this way you can keep track of your edits, be more part of the community, and have all preferences saved. Have a nice day. Joey - Talk Contribs 02:59, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Why is there a gap between the collapsible templates? I took a look at the source code for the page and there's no line skip or <br> that would account for the break. Anyone has any idea why that's happening? Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 22:23, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

I think I know why. I'll see what I can do. Zero Sign - Zero - Talk 05:00, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

There, Charitwo fixed it. On the AvatarAnimals template, it was just too spaced out, and that got called on. Joey - Talk Contribs 05:34, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Energybender's Changes

I'm really sorry, but I strongly disagree with moving the page to a template and protecting this page to sysop. First of all, using a template for this page is a waste of time. Also, protecting the page to sysop seems a little rude for visitors. It's also not needed, as this page has not been vandalised since December. Pages in the main namespace should only be protected if they are the target of persistent vandalism. The 888th Avatar (Talk) 21:20, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

But they can change the main page template if they want. It's very simple. I know several wikis that split up their main page components. --Energybender 21:23, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
But why do we need to do that? The 888th Avatar (Talk) 21:26, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

If you don't what I'm talking about, it is the message on the top of the wiki saying that if a user is autoblocked, they should let other users know ion their talk page. Yeah, well maybe it should be put on the main page in the Site News section. Vaznock - Talk 01:06, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

I don't think we'll need to do that. I mean, everyone will read the new site notice at one point, they'll remember. The 888th Avatar (Talk) 01:13, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

New Additions to Main Page

I've been doing minor design work for the main page for a while, as you have noticed, and in light of that, I want to make a few additions to the main page. Here are my ideas:

  • "Featured pic" - we have so many, it's not hard
  • "Featured quote" - especially to raise awareness of our quote pages
  • "Monthly poll" - I would like to move the one I've sandboxed at User:The 888th Avatar/Sandbox B

Adding these to the main column will mean I can lengthen the right column and allow more news blogs to be shown/more of the news blogs to be shown. It will also inject a bit more fun for the wiki.
At this stage however, I don't want a "did you know", seems pointless because no new content is coming in. We can probably try that next year. Let me know what you think here. Wjxhuang, the 888th Avatar {Talk} 14:52, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Good idea. I agree and support it. But, do you think to add polls about the wiki or about Avatar? Dcasawang1 - Talk 20:36, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Support Support — I agree. Phineas and Ferb Wiki has these, except for the poll, and it works fine! Agreed. —The Flash Talk to me, talk to me, talk to me bay-bay! 20:49, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
The polls could be on any subject. Most of the time about Avatar, but can be about the wiki where needed. Wjxhuang, the 888th Avatar {Talk} 23:35, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

The featured pic and quote would be elected by vote? Dcasawang1 - Talk 18:19, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

I think it's a grand idea. Katara-dobs-c2 - Avatar Junky -Talk 18:21, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Okay, adding in now. Dcasawang: Definitely, I'll be setting up the page soon. Wjxhuang, the 888th Avatar {Talk} 12:37, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

About the polls, I was thinking that we can create a "page" where we'd move the polls and its statistics, add graphics for each poll and make a research analizing the results. What do you think? Dcasawang1 - Talk 15:10, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Perhaps. I don't intend the polls to be very important - they're just a bit of fun, and when we need it, a bit of community insight. The thing is, we have the formal votes for a reason, and polls might not be serious enough to warrant a whole page. Wjxhuang, the 888th Avatar {Talk} 16:20, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Ok. If they are for fun, that statistics aren't needed. Dcasawang1 - Talk 16:33, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

The last airbender

Don't you think that the Last Airbender is wrong and not accurate of the series. First of all go to and you will find that the trailer and all previews are not correct. I saw pictures of the movie and Sokka and Katara are wearing brown coats when they are supposed to be blue. And Aangs arrow is supposed to be blue too. Zuko's scar should i hope. And i am not being racist but most characters look Asian not white or Indian. I admit that Sokka and Katara are darker then other characters the actors are way too dark. and i hope the movie is better than what i have found out about because i am a huge avatar fan so have a flammin day Hotman:) Feel free to agree and disagree.

Hi there, and thanks for your opinions on the new film series. Could you take stuff like this to the forum next time? People notice more easily and are more likely to reply, that's all. :) Wjxhuang, the 888th Avatar {Talk} 05:22, December 24, 2009 (UTC)

Fannon Overload

I'm noticing a lot of fannon is being posted here. Avatar Wiki is becoming a fannon database. I don't think that is the point of this wiki! People should spend more time improving cannonicle pages, not making up stories! If that's all anyone wants to do, they should just make a Last Airbender Fannon Wiki! DaLucarayRox 23:23, January 31, 2010 (UTC)DaLucaray

Please read your talk page. There was a fanon wiki. It merged with this one. Both parties agreed to this. And use the forums, or blog. Not this, either. Keep this up, and you'll get warned.--Avatar Talk 23:26, January 31, 2010 (UTC)

The acronym "AG" is used in like, all of the articles. Shouldn't it be linked to its own article, to explain what it means? -- 02:35, February 13, 2010 (UTC)

Hi, how did you managed to have two skins on one wiki, movie-skin and cartoon-skin? --TakeruDavis (talkcontribs) 21:25, May 20, 2010 (UTC)

I'm not exactly sure, but we have seperate namespaces. And our .css sheet has the styles set for the different namespaces. It would be better to ask The 888th Avatar or Joeyaa, as they seem to know more.--I'm The Bos - Got something to say? - Read Guardian! 21:41, May 20, 2010 (UTC)
I figured it might be something with namespaces. However, besides of Film and Film Talk namespaces, also Main Page is film-themed and I guess Main Page (Avatar Wiki) is from default Main namespace, thus from namespace which on other pages uses cartoon theme..
As I am testing many things on wiki code, I am quite interested in this :-)
--TakeruDavis (talkcontribs) 22:19, May 20, 2010 (UTC)

Is it possible to return to the old format? This one is much less intuitive. I like that there is less emphasis on the film, but it's hard to find things, and the toolbar at the top fools you into thinking it's for site navegation, when really it's to go to 0ther wikis. 00:43, October 23, 2010 (UTC)

New slider images proposal

Okay, I think it is time we change around some of the images in the slider, with the exception of the Legend of Korra one. First lets do the fanon slider. Below are some suggested images, already in the right size. Take your pick, or suggest others.

Wikia Anime

Why exactly does the main page show tweets from Wikia Anime? Avatar's not an anime. The Flash {talk} 15:30, April 2, 2011 (UTC)

Yea, I know. :) Wikia requested that we show their Anime feed, and since the audience for Avatar does indeed overlap with a lot of anime (more so than classic American cartoons, anyway), I put it on there. The 888th Avatar (talk) 23:15, April 2, 2011 (UTC)
But that's the thing, Avatar isn't anime. Some shows may looks like anime, but they aren't. And based on that logic, if a lot of Zutarians liked Twilight, would we have Twilight Wiki's Twitter Feed on our main page?-- Olórin The White TalkFriends 23:28, April 2, 2011 (UTC)
Technically it is kinda anime. Read this. Toph Lover (talk Toph-DoBS-2 contribs) 23:32, April 2, 2011 (UTC)
It does not fit the definition of anime, anime is defined as animation from Japan. ATLA is made in America and animated in Korea. It does use some techniques of anime, but it is not an actual anime.-- Olórin The White TalkFriends 23:37, April 2, 2011 (UTC)
(edit conflict) The comparison doesn't quite work. Anime is a very broad topic and encompasses a lot of material that users here would be interested in, while a feed on Twilight would only engage a small portion of our community. Again, I know that Avatar isn't anime in the strictest sense of the term, but using the Wikia Anime feed is best alternative, especially since our own account isn't doing very much. You do realise that as a "member" of that feed, there are tweets linking to us whenever Korra information comes out? The 888th Avatar (talk) 23:33, April 2, 2011 (UTC)
Alright then, I'll just use an example, if there was a Wikia Romance twitter feed, would we include it in our main page? Avatar has a lot of shippers and a lot of shipping wars, by this logic we should include it in our main page.-- Olórin The White TalkFriends 23:37, April 2, 2011 (UTC)

Look, it still doesn't work. Apples and oranges may be more similar than apples and chocolate biscuits, but apples still aren't oranges. In terms of "categorisation", things are difficult for Avatar. Anime is the "next best" broad categorisation for Avatar, and the categorisation that is most likely to be relevant to the largest number of people on the wiki. I can tell you that the broad audience profile for Avatar is much closer to Naruto than to Batman. The 888th Avatar (talk) 23:42, April 2, 2011 (UTC)
How are they apples to oranges? They are both broad genres. Avatar is still usually defined as Western Animation with influences from Anime, but still not anime. But yeah, I guess Batman isn't similar to Korra. :P-- Olórin The White TalkFriends 23:46, April 2, 2011 (UTC)
For the record, korea has anime too. Toph Lover (talk Toph-DoBS-2 contribs) 23:50, April 2, 2011 (UTC)
It may look that way, but it isn't. Korea is not Japan, where something must be from in order to be called anime.-- Olórin The White TalkFriends 23:52, April 2, 2011 (UTC)
Tell that to wikipedia ;) Toph Lover (talk Toph-DoBS-2 contribs) 00:03, April 3, 2011 (UTC)

Wikipedia is not a reliable source for ts, as I have said before.-- Olórin The White TalkFriends 00:19, April 3, 2011 (UTC)
It's really up to how we define "Anime". Dictionaries all over the web describing an Anime as: a Japanese style of motion-picture animation, characterized by highly stylized, colorful art, futuristic settings etc. or something along that line. We, as human beings, have various respective opinions, and some tend to adapt towards the location-wise definition of Anime (an animation produced and animated in Japan). This article seems promising, but no conclusion reached either... =\ So, which definision should we chose? Should we follow the dictionary? Or do we follow our "instinct"?
Edit:Found another one. Hope this helps =) These are just individual opinions by the way. AvaFan MsgMe 00:31, April 3, 2011 (UTC)
But look at the one that calls it a style of animation, it says it is a Japanese style. ATLA is not Japanese in any way.-- Olórin The White TalkFriends 02:18, April 3, 2011 (UTC)
It's tough to say for sure. ATLA really touches the line between anime and not. It has anime touches in the animation, but it doesn't appear to be pure anime in such, not to mention it's American-made. PSUAvatar14 (talkcontribs) 00:41, April 3, 2011 (UTC)
It isn't an anime, but I don't see why it can't be assosiated with Twitter Anime if it helps us gain attention. Rassilon of Old (Talk - TTFF - Teru) 02:54, April 3, 2011 (UTC)
That is similar to my older argument, I mean, if it isn't anime, why have it associated with it? Being in "Wikia Romance" would also get us noticed more, but ATLA is not romance, so why would we have it?-- Olórin The White TalkFriends 02:57, April 3, 2011 (UTC)

Shouldnt the fanon stay in the fanon wiki its cluttering this one :P (talkcontribs) 16:17, April 22, 2011 (UTC)

The fanon wiki was deleted after its' merge with this wiki, and the two different topics are kept separate by the use of the Fanon namespace. And what do you mean by cluttered? Could you provide some examples? Rassilon of Old (Talk - TTFF - Teru) 16:19, April 22, 2011 (UTC)
Yes, the decision of the merge was taken some years ago after a voting process. Dcasawang1 (talk) 16:23, April 22, 2011 (UTC)
You can find everything you need to know there, if you can be bothered to read all of it, that is. Thanks for the link DC, I should really keep a link to it somewhere. Cheers mister-to-be-admin. ;) Rassilon of Old (Talk - TTFF - Teru) 16:25, April 22, 2011 (UTC)

Ok. Question!! After she is sent to the insane facility, where does Azula go from there? She was always evil and a blood-thirsty monster, but she is one of my favorite characters! Does anyone know if she sees the light and becomes good? Or does she seriously go insane, or die or something? Please tell me if you know!!! 02:56, April 26, 2011 (UTC)

Hi. I think your question would be more relevant if it were asked on our Azula article. You're also more likely to get good responses there. :) The 888th Avatar (talk) 02:57, April 26, 2011 (UTC)

The planet on which Avatar takes place is called Earth!

Obviously by the map it's not our Earth but it is referred to as Earth by Long Feng at the end of 'city of walls and secrets' where he says: 'Ba Sing Se remains a utopia: the last one on Earth.' I just thought this was interesting.

Hi — this page is only to discuss our home page. If you wish to make a comment on a particular component of the Avatar world, I suggest making a comment on an article, e.g. Ba Sing Se or World of Avatar. :) The 888th Avatar (talk) 01:20, April 29, 2011 (UTC)

Similar Story Settings to Other Media

There are similar steps with the ALTA and LOK with different protagonists like:

Fire Emblem, EarthBound/Mother, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, and Pokemon (Games) with different protagonists and different settings in these stories. DigiPen92 (talkother wikis) Monk_animation.gif 02:48, June 1, 2011 (UTC)

Hi DigiPen. Just wanted to let you know that this page is for discussing changes to the main page. The idea sounds interesting, perhaps you could explain it more at the forums? Rassilon Dai Li Sprite (Talk - Teru) 03:06, June 1, 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the info. (and its here right now) DigiPen92 (talkother wikis) Monk_animation.gif 06:35, June 1, 2011 (UTC)

Am I the only one still offended to why M. Night Shyamalan decided to make another The Last Airbender movie when it has caused such a public disturbance? I mean really, the riot in Hollywood, the "Aang Ain't White" movement, the whole Racebending thing, i mean seriously! Why make a sequel to the first movie if it has offended so many people; including me. 01:16, July 4, 2011 (UTC) Shelly D.

Hi Shelly. This talk page is for discussing the main page itself only, not the whole wiki. Perhaps you could furthur discuss this with a blog post if you make an account? Thank you, Rassilon of Old (Talk - Teru - Help) 01:18, July 4, 2011 (UTC)

Zhao ?

Why isn't Zhao in the "main characters" section ? Can't he get replaced with Suki/Iroh ? He's a main villian in Book 1. --Bahjy1 (talk!! - fanon) 04:31, September 16, 2011 (UTC)

Zhao was a main villain in Book 1, just like Long Feng in Book 2 and Combustion Man in Book 3, who aren't there. Everyone else up there is significant in multiple seasons. --AvatarRokus Ghost (Message meRead my fanon) Aang Cosmic Toph-DoBS-2 04:34, September 16, 2011 (UTC)

How come Aang isnt first?

I havent heard a mention of Korra before so why is he infront of Aang and the rest of the crew on the main page? Jackiie (Talk) 09:34, November 2, 2011 (UTC)

It's because she's the main character of Legend of Korra. Entia non sunt multiplicanda praeter necessitatem 09:50, November 2, 2011 (UTC)
But that series has not even been released yet and there isn't a date on the IMDB either. Jackiie (Talk) 17:44, November 2, 2011 (UTC)
No, but it's still relevant to visitors and readers of the site, who are more likely to be interested in information about Korra than the old series that finished up more than three years ago. The 888th Avatar (talk) 03:31, November 3, 2011 (UTC)
