Roseanne Liang is a New Zealander writer, director, and producer across both film and television. She is a director and co-executive producer for Netflix's live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender.[1]

Personal life[]
Liang was born in New Zealand and has two sisters. Her parents, both of whom are doctors, emigrated from Hong Kong. She attended St Cuthbert's College in Auckland and later went on to study computer science at the University of Auckland. She is married to Stephen Harris, with whom she has two children.
Career[]
Liang made her directorial debut in 2005 with the autobiographical documentary film Banana in a Nutshell, which was about her own cross-cultural romance with her husband. In 2011, a feature length adaptation of the documentary was released, the award winning romantic comedy My Wedding and Other Secrets, for which Liang was writer and director.
In 2007, Liang directed the short film Take 3, and was later a writer on the sketch comedy series A Thousand Apologies as part of the Thousand Apologies Collective creative group. In 2017, she directed the short film Do No Harm, which was shown at the Sundance Film Festival, and in 2018 she cofounded the Pan-Asian Screen Collective, supporting Asian filmmakers in New Zealand. In 2020, she co-wrote and directed the action-horror film Shadow in the Cloud, starring Chloë Grace Moretz, and was co-creator, writer and director on the critically acclaimed black comedy web series Creamerie, released in 2021.
