This article is about the opera star. For the Fire Nation ambassador, see Quin. For the archaeologist, see Qian Yu.

Quin Yu was a famous opera star from the Earth Kingdom. Despite seeing the entire mover industry as beneath him, his considerable debts led him to take on the role of the antagonist in the latest Varrimovers International production, Sengo: Lady of the Winds.[1]

History[]

Quin Yu was well known in the operas of the Earth Kingdom.[1] He played for Earth Queen Hou-Ting, for Fire Nation nobility, and for Water Tribe leadership, even performing for the Avatar one time.[2]

Despite his fame and successful career, Quin Yu squandered all the yuan that he earned, putting himself deep into debt.[2][1] This led him to accept a role in Varrimovers International's new production, Sengo: Lady of the Winds, where he was cast as the mover's villain, Imperator Kuvai.[3] Considering himself a real artist, Quin Yu considered the mover production to be trashy and beneath him.[2]

Although Quin Yu was given a more-than-fair paycheck from the studio's leading executive, Hongmei, he found himself in need of yet more funds to support his lavish lifestyle. He secured more money for himself by selling updates on the production to the Creeping Crystal Triad's lieutenant, Amrita, who wanted a cut of the mover's profits. However, Quin Yu justified this by telling himself that he was doing this mostly in honor of art, to punish the abominable production and the entire mover industry.[2] While he understood that Amrita was a member of a triad, he liked to think that it was just communicating with the equivalent of a gossipy news outlet. Amrita ended up having a strong hold on him from the cash he was getting from her.[1]

The studio's new security team, Erdene, Qacha, Thi, Meeka, and Dae arrived on set as Quin Yu was filming a particularly intense scene with Sengo's actress, Xue. As Sengo confronted Kuvai in the scene, Quin Yu played the antagonist with operatic bombast, as controlled tubing shot flames from his ankles as a harness held him aloft. But as the cameras were rolling, everything started to shake, as Quin Yu's suspension harness tossed him about and the nozzles sprayed flame everywhere, causing saber-tooth moose lion animal actor, Sweetie, to run from the flames and toss Xue in the air. Quin Yu was enraged at the "shoddy workmanship" and "lack of professionalism", and stormed off the set to his rooms at the nearby hotel, the Sleeping Sloth-Mouse.[4][5][6]

Personality[]

Quin Yu was a very snobbish performer and had a sense of superiority. He wanted to convince everyone that he was the best at what he does, and held a belief that the mover industry was tasteless.[1][2]

Abilities[]

Although he had a huge ego, Quin Yu was still able to become a famous and successful star. In a fight, he was able to strike enemies at weak points where they were already injured.[1][2]
