  • Controversy does not equate as "invalid".

First sentence "quotes" something I didn't say. Off to a great start.

There have been controversies surrounding many different things through history, but eventually a truth comes out one way or another. When you observe a patient cycling through alters without someone leading them, it does not matter that there are disagreements about cause, diagnosis, or treatments. You'll know that it is a real thing.

It matters firstly because you made a specific causal claim in the topic as if it were consensus, which it is not, & secondly because misunderstanding causes & treatments has very real consequences. Do you even know what the relationship between memory implantation & repressed memories ARE, & why I chose that example? 'Cause if you did, you'd realize how positively asinine it is for you to say that disagreements about treatments don't matter.

That the terminology has changed from "multiple personality disorder" to "dissociative identity disorder" show we're still learning about it. And I'm sure at some point the terms may shift a few more times. But it is a real condition.

This isn't about the terminology, but I fully expected you to not even look at the link I posted before trying to argue with me.

And your disbelief in my credentials is equally irrelevant. I'll thank you to not malign them no matter how much you doubt them.

'Fraid not. You MAKING an appeal to false authority is invalid. Me CRITICIZING you for doing so is not. As long as you continue to use your Internet Credentials to blow me off, without ever demonstrating WHY anyone should believe you are credible in the 1st place, I'll keep saying you're full of shit.

I don't attack your "claims of higher education".

That's not out of any sense of courtesy, the subtext in your posts to me is pretty clearly that you think I don't even know basic information--or at least want others to think so--it's because I seldom try to make myself into an appeal to authority. Instead I post actual explanations, with links if necessary. You can't touch what I don't do, & what I do do, you won't touch.

Also, if you did, it wouldn't go well for you. I'd post a screenshot of myself logged into Penn State Angel, or something, & then what would you do? Counter with documentation of your own claim? Hahah, fat chance.

    • Leaving aside the fact that immunity from criticism isn't a fucking "courtesy," you 2 don't practice what you preach anyway. You flat-out said I deserve to be insulted for being dismissive of her. Also, now you're assuming that I won't believe evidence--even though earlier you tried to call me out on making assumptions about people--& saying that you're just going to spam me from now on.

The harder someone tries to prove they have the moral high ground, the quicker they will betray their own stated principles. A tale as old as time.

Though you did inspire me to start saving recurring debates for future reference.

  • Hi, Love Robin! I just wanted to let you know that I proposed an alternative to your war room post and would really appreciate your input on it. I would also appreciate it if you could elaborate more on the policy you have on other wikis regarding allowing users to have control over their own blog posts as I don't know as much about it.

    • I would not take it personally. The edit count in various threads are so high that people are at best reading the first few posts then skipping to that last few, and not reading the rest. So there are bound to be repeats of points already made.

I've found an Avatar Shipping wiki that I've been thinking of adopting. I'll have to wait a bit since I just adopted another and there is a 1 per month restriction on adoptions.

    • I could seriously turn this into a drinking game. Take a drink everytime she says some form of "I am well within my rights to..." since I seriously don't even know how many times I've seen her say that. I would also take a drink everytime she tells people to harden up or uses the "this is the internet" excuse. I would be so trashed. XD

I don't think there's anything wrong with reporting comments that should be removed to admin noticeboard but I find the excuse of "allowing user control over comments on their blogs would be more work for us" to be lazy.

I didn't know that there was an Avatar shipping wiki. I knew that Naruto and Fairy Tail had their own pairing wikis but I didn't know about Avatar. Of course, there is also the general shipping wiki for shipping in all fandoms.

  • I really would like to you for your help on my blog. Unfortunely, I am mostly done debating on it because someone won't leave me alone and keeps claiming that I have confirmation bias. Isn't it annoying when an 18 year-old acts like they know more than you?

    • That's actually something I noticed myself. If anything, it's hindsight bias, not confirmation bias, because it's applying the past to what we know now. But hey, not everybody can be right about everything.

    • Well, the thing about Hindsight Bias is that while it may be true of those who need to go back over events to review and see the evidence lining up… It does not apply to those who accurately saw the evidence as it was freshly presented. Those who saw Korrasami developing as it did were not in hindsight, whereas those who hopped on at later points and looked back would have been.

At the risk of sounding like bragging, I was onboard from Asami and Korra's first scene together. Back then it was a crackship. As Bolin said, "the longest of longshots" (y'all do realize that was the secondary application of his line; double duty for Korrasami) .
