  • Hi Hot! So recently, as I've been trying to add images to the Lost Adventures comics and I've noticed that a lot of the images in the infoboxes are a picture of the whole front page, even though some of the comics have a "cover photo" so to speak. Does changing this need a profile image change request/ war room discussion, or can I just change them to the covers. In my opinion, the first page as the image just takes up unnecessary space, and it would make it easier to get the information. An example of this would be the Water War image, which is already cut down to just the "main cover" image, and in contrast, the Reach for the Toph and the Relics images have the first page as the image. Thanks in advance!

  • Hi Thor,

I would like to ask for permission to reference the Site, Avatar Wiki, on my youtube channel. I review ATLA action figures and any ATLA merch. I use Avatar Wiki for some talking points too. I, offcourse, give credit to the site in the video and at the description of the video. Are there any guidelines for this?

    Thanks,

    Rae

    • That is awesome. Thank you very much! This is really appreciated. I am finding a similar guideline for a Reddit but I couldn't. Hopefully I can ask for permission from that author as well.

      Thank you so much!

      Rae

  • Not that there was ever a doubt, but I'd like to formally welcome you to the administrator team of the Avatar Wiki. You've practically been one for years by action, and now I'm pleased to say you're also one officially. As such, please add a fitting description of yourself to the {{administrators}} template.

I won't really say "congrats", since that's not how adminship is viewed here, but take it as a big recognition of all the work you've done and a wiki (and personal) thank you for that!

  • So, I’ve never seen any avatar things. I know nothing about avatar, but I want to see it/them. What should I watch/read first to understand it (books, shows, movies, etc.)? I’m asking you because you are active here and you have a lot of edits

    • Since I basically got the same question, I'm just going to jump in here as well: I basically just refer to everything HoT told you before (I too cannot recommend you watching the movie. Or if you do want to watch it, watch it before you watch the series, because the series is waaaaaaaay better).

As for your last question in regards to the order of things: Avatar: The Last Airbender series is comprised out of three books: Book One: Water, Book Two: Earth, and Book Three: Fire. It stands to reason that that's also the order to watch it in.

From there, it's up to your personal preference: there are several comics and graphic novels that are considered to be canon, bridging the gaps between the aforementioned books and the next series The Legend of Korra.

Is it necessary to have read those before watching the next series? No, since most fans didn't as they only came out after TLoK. Will it increase your knowledge of the setting of TLoK? Naturally, so that's really up to you.

In regards to the order of these comics , I defer to our List of Avatar: The Last Airbender comics page. Each comic generally also indicates the time in which is takes place (after or before which comic/episode). The ATLA graphic novels take place after the series.

  • Dear Thor, Wielder of Mjolnir, Rightful Ruler of Asgard, etc. titles to give you more titles than everyone else,

Thank you kindly for the cleanup.

Forgive me for the A) new profile (I've followed this fandom for what feels like years at this point, probably is, never had a reason to actually make a profile). I got to writing on AO3 and only recently realized I could use this fandom to post a link so I could get actual reviews, and B) probably bit of misunderstanding with the following questions, but:

(Context) I have already written 45 chapters of my work, and while I'm fine with posting it all here, I looked at the rules and went "well this is M for mature (there's no sex and surprisingly little cursing, both pet peeves, but lots of gore and black comedy) and as such its clearly a RC"

I'm trying to figure out how to post my work (i.e. links). Its a three parter akin to ATLA's books (1-21,22-38,39-65). Do I post three links? One link per chapter? Do I make 45 chapter pages and each one is just a link? Can I give a synopsis of a chapter even if the chapter itself is quite graphic (e.x. there's one chapter involving a bloody sally and duel w/decapitation)?

Sorry about being a noob. Thanks again for the cleanup.

EDIT: Polite greetings are a key to winning a duel. Wait, this isn't a duel, is it?

    • No problem.

I would advise against creating individual pages for each chapter, as each page should have a reasonable amount of content and just a synopsis and link wouldn't be enough. If you wanted to create a page for each Book with the synopsis and a link for each individual chapter (kind of like this episode list for ATLA) I think that would work. Another possibility, if each Book had clear parts you could make pages for each of these (say, the first 10 chapters in part one, the remaining in part 2).

It is no problem to add a synopsis for each chapter, so long as the rating of the synopsis is PG-13. I should also add that you should include a note after each link or clearly visible at the top of the page that the linked content is of a mature rating.

My dear Mister Firebender, if this were a duel you would not be thrilled at the result. ;)

    • That episode list was exactly what I was hoping for (as Book 1 and 2 are done, 3 is in the writing phase), any suggestions on templates for it?

        Loading editor
    • My suggestion would be to copy the template from that page and adjust the number of columns etc. as you want. You can add customisation to it later on, but it would be easier to start with something simple.

  • Hi, I would like to request to somehow delete Chapters 2-15 from my fanfiction since I'm currently rewriting it in Webtoon Format. https://avatar.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Hikar%27s_Spiritual_Chronicles_chapters_(fanon)

Do you think you can do it?

      Loading editor
    • Deleting the pages isn't a problem. Are you intending to remake the pages later on? If so, it might be easier to move them to your userspace.

        Loading editor
    • Maybe I'll remake New Cycle 2, but other than that, not really, they'll have different titles and content.

  • In fact, the authors called Kyoshi bisexual. Read the interview: ..."In the back of our minds we always thought Kyoshi was probably bisexual,” DiMartino says."...

    • Thank you for clarifying that. I was going off of what I remembered from the novel. I have undone the edit and added that link as an additional reference.

  • Sorry for being so much trouble with the improper references; the referencing system used here is a bit (okay, no, completely) different from any referencing system I've used on a wiki before. I sort of have just defaulted to what I know and left it to others to correct! Sorry about all of that. How does your referencing system work? I want to keep adding future material from the Kyoshi novel series without leaving pieces for you all to pick up after me.

    • Excellent job.

The main The Rise of Kyoshi page has the chapter numbers, and I might also add a list to the template documentation for future reference.
