Hi H-Man, I know you don't edit the wiki anymore but on the off chance that you decide to check in or are on another wiki community and still get notifications I felt I would ask. Some users and I have been trying to find a source for an edit you made in 2008 citing something called the "series timeline" but I have no idea what that is. Any insight on this would be appreciated, thanks!
On my ipad, I was trying to add Monk Tang Xu to the Air Nomads list. However, it didn't work and part of the code was accidently deleted. However, I was able to add Monk Tang Xu to the list on my laptop.
Hey H-Man. I deleted the category you created for alternate universe characters since there's no real need to make a general fanon category for for characters in one fanon. Also, it was for original characters within a certain genre, and we don't have "background story characters (fanon)" or "one-shot characters (fanon)."
The category can always be undeleted, so if you disagree, we can always have a discussion about recreation.
Hm...perhaps. It's a fuzzy line, though. AU characters could mean characters in an alternate avatarverse (which would mean most fanon characters), a completely different universe (like in a crossover) or in something like HotN or A:TLAR. Would the category really be useful if it was so widespread?
The "Alternative universe (fanon)" category is interpreted very broad on this wiki, encompassing every world that is not the Avatar wold as it was introduced in either series (also meaning future evolutions of that world). That category encompasses new worlds where there is an Avatar (like HotN) or the real world (like Alone). All those are AU stories on this wiki, but that does not mean that the characters of those stories are "Alternative universe characters (fanon)" as the category implied. To make both the characters category and the story category coincide, the "AU character" category would have to encompass every character that was not introduced in either series -which is too broad. Or if we would actually limit the scope of that category and solely include crossover characters, then the applicability would be very limited and thus not be necessary. Just my two cents.
I feel you're misinterpreting my thought process ARG. When I mean AU characters, I mean those that exist intentionally in one fanon, but say that they somehow arrived in another fanon or universe. Take the characters I had initially categorized as part of the category. Each of them are AU characters because they originally belonged to the Teen Titans universe before being sucked through a portal of some sort and ending up in the Avatar world. Another example of an AU character I believe would be character Tengu, since he appears in fanons outside of his Avatar: Wanted storyline if I remember correctly.
So this would be characters that happen to travel from one universe to another within a fanon. That sounds like it would include every character in Vortex. Or would this be solely for characters from completely different universes like Teen Titans who came to the Avatarverse? That's a fairly limited category that I'm not sure too many would search for. There's the ones you added, one of the characters from The Weatherbenders and a couple from Avatar: Choices, though I'm not sure they have character pages.
Yes, I understand that, but it is just that which would make it too broad imo as there are often subtle nods from one author to a character of another universe, which would then also fall under this category. But that's just my take on it.
Just so you know, it's not mandatory in any way for fanon characters to have the icons up. It's the author's choice whether or not to add them, so there is not really a need to go around adding them. Some might just not like them or something.
When I looked at the review, the top portion was not on the page, but rather all the way on the right of my screen. I reloaded the page, and then accessed it again, and both times the same thing occurred.
