Spirit Emblem
"Complete opposites? I know."
"I tried to fight it, but she really grew on me."
— May and Jim to Korra about their love.[1]

May-Jim is a frog spirit with two heads, a female one named May on its left shoulder and a male one named Jim on its right. Over time, the two heads fell in love with each other and decided to marry. The couple celebrated their marriage outside Iroh's teashop near Hai-Riyo Peak in the Spirit World.[1]

History[]

May-Jim celebrated their wedding by organizing a gathering outside Iroh's teashop. The celebration was attended by a multitude of spirits, along with Avatar Korra, who initially expressed confusion over the couple's marriage due to the fact that they were two heads on the same body. They misinterpreted Korra's confusion as disbelief over two polar opposites falling in love, to which Jim responded that he attempted to fight his feelings, but to no avail.[1]

May-Jim readily acknowledged the toast that Iroh made to friendship as the latter raised his teacup to them after recognizing how many friends he had made since his arrival. After hearing this, Korra had an emotional breakdown over losing Jinora. Her sudden outburst of negative energy affected May-Jim as well as the other spirits who were present, save for the dragon bird spirit, turning them dark. Noticing Korra's distressed state, May accused Jim of offending the young Avatar, prompting the latter to respond that it was she who had the tendency to run her mouth. The spirits returned to normal once Korra had calmed down and apologized for her outburst.[1]

Personalities[]

May and Jim are complete opposites. The two are typically pleasant spirits, who were welcoming of Korra after she arrived at their wedding celebration. Unlike other spirits who become violent and hostile after turning dark, May and Jim begin to argue and bicker with each other when influenced by negative emotions.
