Lowtown Laundry was one of the largest washing facilities in the Lower Ring that Tan and his firebenders chose as their central location.[1]
History[]
At some point, Hop became Lowtown Laundry's proprietor. As people from the Lower Ring frequented this place, he came to know everyone in the neighborhood, their business, and all the gossips in this area of the Ring.
When Tan and his firebenders were looking for a place to set up shop, they decided to choose Lowtown Laundry for its central location, but also to put pressure on Hop to give them information about the local residents. While Hop had been accommodating so far, he chafed against the Fire Nation soldiers who had completely overrun his places of business. The firebenders' presence drove away business, and their continued clashes with Earth Kingdom guards caused everyone in the neighborhood to give the location a wide berth. Even though Hop wanted them gone, the firebenders refused to leave until they had secured their charges.[1]
Description[]
In Lowtown Laundry people could purchase bars of laundry soap, wash their clothes in the heated spring the site was built over, or drop off laundry for cleaning services at a hefty fee. Generally, only people from the Upper Ring used to leave laundry for washing, so Lower Ring residents came and went from the facilities at all times of day and night.[1]
