Kyung Dae was an adept earthbender and the son of Kyung Woong, a dangerous member of the Terra Triad. Though his family name carried weight in the criminal underworld of Republic City and he was expected by many to become a mobster like his father, he was much more passionate about sculpting than a life of crime.[1]
History[]
Kyung Dae was the son of Kyung Woong, a famous member of the Terra Triad, a capable and dangerous earthbender who helped establish the Terras as one of the preeminent triads in all of Republic City. However, after Woong was caught in an all-out brawl with the Creeping Crystal Triad, Lin Beifong and the Metalbending Police Force captured him, sending Dae's father to prison.
Even after the arrest, the Kyungs remained well-known and respected throughout the Republic City triad underworld. This meant that everyone had high expectations for Dae to become a major member of the Terras, not least because he showed his father's aptitude for earthbending. However, Dae was not sure what he wanted, as he had never felt more alive than when he created intricate sculptures of earth and stone.[1]
Dae met Bolin on a team where he protected a train depot from saboteurs, working together with Erdene, Qacha, Thi, and Meeka to resolve the situation.[2] He never felt better than himself after he helped save the people at the train depot, with Bolin thanking him for his help. He tried to spend more time around his new friends who made him feel more valued for himself than his heritage, while doing his utmost to hide his friends from his family, and his family from his friends.[1]
After the train depot incident, Bolin asked to meet the five again for a quick noodle lunch at Dancing Dan's Noodles near the Varrimovers International Studio. He explained that the production of new mover Sengo: Lady of the Winds was having problems, and that he suspected that benders were endangering the set. Being busy as President Zhu Li Moon's personal assistant, Bolin asked the team if they could do him a favor by handling security for the mover production.[2]

Dae had a casual demeanor, but doubts himself often, and was not sure what he wanted from life.[1]

Dae was a powerful earthbender like his father. He fought with a belt of spherical stones that doubled as a stony chain.[1]
