Koi Harbor is one of several villages located on Kyoshi Island. It is a fishing and trading port, and located close to Suki's village.[1]
History[]
Koi Harbor already existed when the area was a peninsula called Yokoya. At the time, it was a larger settlement, but also marked by poverty.[2] The locals mostly lived as elephant koi fishers,[3] and began supplying the Avatar mansion with food from 298 BG. Two years later, Yun, Rangi, and Kyoshi visited Koi Harbor to aquire some elephant koi fillet. There, they encountered and beat some criminal traders and pirates led by Taliriktug, causing the locals to praise Yun.[2]
When Team Avatar visited Kyoshi Island in late 99 AG, Avatar Aang accompanied locals from Suki's village to various places on the island. At one point, he joined a group of Kyoshi Warriors that was on patrol to Koi Harbor. On the way, one of the warriors explained that Suki's village was usually very peaceful, but other villages often had security issues due to unruly traders or sailors causing trouble. Just as they arrived at Koi Harbor, a local cried out for help as thieves attempted to rob them at the piers. Aang and the Kyoshi Warriors intervened, and though the criminals believed them to be mere "girls and a child", they were easily defeated and taken into custody.[1]
Trivia[]
- The settlement's design for Avatar: Generations's The Rise of Kyoshi scenarios was inspired by real-world slums in developing countries.[3]
