Hello everyone. I was just scanning some of our user rights pages and I had an idea. I know that Admins have highlights and what not, but should we expand our highlight variety? I think that crats and admins should have different highlights so if people wanted to identify a crat, they can do so right away. I also think we should have a highlight for rollbacks. I mean they do have user rights so why not give them a highlight for people to be able to tell who are the rollbacks. Also, I think that VSTF, helpers, and wiki staff should have one as well as bots. I highly agree with adding those, but if you guys wanted to, we could even give one to fanon administrators. I know that adding highlights is very simple. One of our admins would just have to add the highlight section in our CSS page.  Technology Wizard  Wall  Contribs

Sorry, but I don't agree with this. The whole point of our current limited highlights is for contact purposes only, as administrators are considered a logical first point of contact. We don't need everyone to be identifiable with a wide variety of pretty colours; it's just confusing for anyone looking for a point of contact. The 888th Avatar (talk) 23:19, August 16, 2011 (UTC)
I agree with 888th and his reasons. Also, I just think that there are just too many rollbacks; if we would highlight them as well, the page's history and the recent changes page would light up like a Christmas tree as those users are generally the ones stalking the recent changes to see what is happening. I don't really see the need to distinguish rollbacks from other autoconfirmed users. Lady Lostris / 9?cb=20210808202057 SOAP 23:22, August 16, 2011 (UTC)

A highlight for a bot is quite unnesesary, as the majority of bots used on the wiki have bot flags, and therefore invisible to RecentChanges. Of course, you can enable the 'show bots' function, in which case it's usually easy to tell who a bot is by their user name. Like Lady Lostris said, the majority of active users are rollbacks, so that would prove unnesesary. The only highlight I would consider is that of bureaucrats, but there seems to be little point, as crats are admins too, so it becomes redundant.

If users really want all user rights to be highlighted, I'm sure you could look into modifying your personal style sheets to have each user right highlighted as you please. Rassilon of Old (Talk - Teru - Help) 03:04, August 17, 2011 (UTC)

Ok thanks for the input guys! I just wanted to bring up the idea, but it is obvious that the community has come to the consensus of not adding the new highlights. Thanks for reading it though =]  Technology Wizard  Wall  Contribs
