Over at the Young justice wiki they have separate tabs for their characters. though those are separated by season i think we could try something slimier here with separate tabs for A:TLA and A:TLoK--FossilLord 23:52, November 2, 2012 (UTC)

Clarification: at the YJ Wiki, we don't have tabs separated by season. It's just a coincidence that the first two tabs reflect different seasons, but it's only those two anyway. ― Thailog 23:59, November 2, 2012 (UTC)
I was just refering to your charecter filing system but did not know the name.--FossilLord 21:46, November 3, 2012 (UTC)
I support, though doesn't this belong in Forum:War Room? – TechFilmer🍍 00:07, November 3, 2012 (UTC)
Ah thank you transferring now--FossilLord 21:46, November 3, 2012 (UTC)

We don't have nearly as many characters that need linking from the main page, and our design goal has always been to keep the number of links down. Since the character section isn't gigantic, I don't think this is necessary. The 888th Avatar (talk) 01:00, November 3, 2012 (UTC)

Oppose, per 888. ― Thailog 21:50, November 3, 2012 (UTC)
Per 888, I oppose. Maintaining simplicity on our front page is crucial, as it is one of the first things a new user sees when coming to the wiki for the first time. Those extra links we will need to insert for the tabs seem unnecessarily complex, which generally does not leave a good impression on the user. The current format is most aesthetically pleasing too, and is not in any serious need of change at the moment. Sparks From Hades 22:05, November 3, 2012 (UTC)
Per 888 and others. Fire Ferret 00:36, November 4, 2012 (UTC)
Support. If Mike and Bryan continue the series up to four series. Acer Evan Seek anything about fanon! 07:47, November 4, 2012 (UTC)

I don't think that makes much sense. The original series had three seasons. We just picked the 11 most important characters (plus a space for a link to other characters). The new series will probably have four. We can just pick 12. I don't buy that we need to list dozens and dozens of characters so that the main characters of each little season can have a space. We're trying to keep the number of links down, and we're trying to make the page as simple as possible. The aim is to get a reader to start reading, not to confront them with a huge amount of material. The 888th Avatar (talk) 07:58, November 4, 2012 (UTC)

I mean oppose, as Bryke didn't state any continuation of TLoK. Support. If Mike and Bryan continue the series up to four series. Sorry for the errors >.> Acer Evan Seek anything about fanon! 08:01, November 4, 2012 (UTC)
To give an example of what 888 said above, we don't have Long Feng or Combustion Man on the main page even though they were important to their seasons. LoK will have 52 episodes, just short of the 61 A:TLA had, so I'm sure we can pair down to twelve characters over four seasons.

TheLoKnessmonster 21:00, November 4, 2012 (UTC)

Sorry for the errors guys, but look like I wrote that in wrong way. I mean, it's a allusion, that mean "if Bryke create 4 other series (The Legend of ...) I will support. But they won't!" Apologize.... But still, oppose the proposal. Acer Evan Seek anything about fanon! 12:37, November 5, 2012 (UTC)

I'm lost, what exactly is being proposed? SixMoodyDwarves Unpublished Fanon Voltorb Is Back! 23:38, November 6, 2012 (UTC)

I am confused too. Can someone please clarify what is being proposed? Nina ☯ 14:29, November 8, 2012 (UTC)

The use of tabs on the main page for the character gallery. Clicking each tab would reveal a new character gallery, presumably for a different season. The rest of us are arguing that it's a bad idea. The basic argument comes down to bloat – "We're trying to keep the number of links down, and we're trying to make the page as simple as possible. The aim is to get a reader to start reading, not to confront them with a huge amount of material." The 888th Avatar (talk) 14:35, November 8, 2012 (UTC)
Oppose, per all. The minimal amount of links and general simplicity make Avatar Wiki's main page easy to navigate – I don't see a need to complicate things. Annawantimes (Talk) 00:02, November 9, 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification 888, I can always count on you. WIth that in mind, I oppose. SixMoodyDwarves Unpublished Fanon Voltorb Is Back! 00:39, November 9, 2012 (UTC)

Fine then can we at least tease out the two different series to help with navigation, we have a number of different characters on the wiki and it is important that they all get their exposure. we do not even have to do it by series just main characters, antagonists, and backround charecters and yes zuko should be a main character.--FossilLord 04:02, November 9, 2012 (UTC)

But we just said why we don't want to add more characters to the main page. There's a point where you get diminishing returns from adding more, I think, so we should, and we have, just kept the most important dozen or two on the main page. Otherwise, I don't think our character list is too hard to find. It's up there in the navigation. The 888th Avatar (talk) 04:43, November 9, 2012 (UTC)
And it's also on the "more..." picture.
