Since the creation of Avatar Fanon Wiki, and its' merge with Avatar Wiki, the fanon portal has been generating all types of fanon. Whether it be adventure, romance, action, comedy, popular, unpopular, they all have one thing in common, their quality level. Taking a quick look around the fanon portal, you can see what I consider, 'high quality', well formatted pages, deserving of the awards they recieve. Ie. Eyes of Katara, Avatar: Guardian and The Six Hundredth Day. Now the first thing you may notice is how different all of these pages are, yet you would still consider them to be high quality, no? Well not all of the wiki's pages are like this, and some are very messy.

Now I would like to address the 'current' procedure for handling low quality fanon. Dumping it in the creator's userspace. With the creation of this process, came the moving of countless low quality fanon into userspaces, which works just fine, but I don't think it should continue. Yes, I myself have done this, along with the Fanon Admins, and I'm not saying we were wrong, but I think there is a much better approach to this. A user group should be created, in which they have the authority to reformat fanon articles to better pass the high quality mark. At Avatar Fanon Wiki, we should be hositng fanon that are fantastically written, and not give a user the disadvantage because although their writing is magnificent, they don't know how to properly use templates, formatting, and wiki markup code. In my first month on the wiki, I did make a comment about a possible 'Manual of Style' for the fanon portal. I have tried to look for this discussion, but to no avail. I did however, mention this to The 888th Avatar in an IRC discussion. The discussion follows.

Rassilon:I have asked before whether or not there is a manual of style for fanon, and the answer (from Bos if I can remember correctly) was "we don't want to limit user creativity" or words to those effect. Now I don't want to limit creativity either, but what if there was a user group that could re format the low quality pages, instead of just dumping them in the userspace. Fix them up, fix typos, coding, headings, insert templates (property template, infobox's) and etc. Would that be fine? Or what that violate the policy regarding not editing other people's fanon?
Wjxhuang:You would probably have to run it through the war room first. I'd definitely agree.

Like I said, I don't want to limit creativity, nor do I want to have an exact way for what each heading has to be, I just want fanon articles cleaned up, working as a collective community to help our newer members, instead of moving their fanon, and posting a template on their talk pages. We should be helping them, and I think this is the way to do it. I'm not looking for members of the user group right now, but for future reference, they must be a very high quality fanon portal editor, and hopefully I can get the Fanon Admins on board with this, as I feel they can do the most to help. Please give me your thoughts. Rassilon of Old (Talk - TTFF - Teru) 11:54, May 10, 2011 (UTC)

If this came into work, I would join. =] I support this idea, but I'll wait to see what others have to say about it. AvatarLover 12:43, May 10, 2011 (UTC)
I think this is an excellent idea. --AvatarRokusGhost 05:40, May 11, 2011 (UTC)
Support Support — This would help many fanons. I have noticed that thousands of users asking admins or experienced users how to add the series template and the property template not there on many fanons. Its a good idea Natsu-Talk-See My Work 07:29, May 11, 2011 (UTC)

Here is an example of what the user group would be doing. It takes a lot of time, and dedication. Rassilon of Old (Talk - TTFF - Teru) 10:25, May 11, 2011 (UTC)

I'd join up. --I'm The Bos - Talk - Guardian 10:40, May 11, 2011 (UTC)
I would expect both yourself and Carloso to. And I would possibly make it invitation only, as it would require high fanon formatting history, and I would also like it to be partnered with the Comma Crusade so they can filter through all spelling/grammar mistakes quickly, whilst we fix up anything else. I agree with this idea. I know the feeling of failed fanons. I got mine dumped back to my user page. Not that it was good anyway.--protorazor (talkcontribs) 07:06, May 12, 2011 (UTC)

It would be a huge help to new and possibly unexperiened users on the fanon portal. The needs help template could be used to mark pages for the user group to fix, then remove the template once completed. Rassilon of Old (Talk - TTFF - Teru) 07:08, May 12, 2011 (UTC)

I would also like to be a member if such a group is created. I've helped others out with their fanons before and I could definitely see myself doing it more as part of a group. --AvatarRokusGhost 19:24, May 15, 2011 (UTC)

Support Support — This would be a great help to all the new fanon writers out there(myself included). --Nathan Miranda - talkZuko-dobs-c7 21:39, May 16, 2011 (UTC)

I support the idea, i would join it. Renata Talk 15:47, May 21, 2011 (UTC)

Since we seemed to have reached consensus and agreement, I'm going to start on this in a minute, if anyone else has anything to say, I'll be watching this discussion for changes. :) Rassilon Dai Li Sprite (Talk - Teru) 23:58, May 21, 2011 (UTC)
