Last Appearance Observers created.

Every character who's currently on the wiki has a "First Appearance" item displaying when that character was first seen in the series.

Perhaps also having a "Last Appearance" would also be helpful, that way the reader would know the basic idea of when a particular character was last seen, before viewing the rest of the article to discover that person's or animal's fate.

Under my proposal, a character like Jet would have his last appearance as Lake Laogai, and characters who were seen throughout the entire series, like Zuko, would have his last appearance as Sozin's Comet, Part 4: Avatar Aang.

Also under this proposal, conditions would need to be attached, much like for First Appearances, to determine whether it is an actual appearance, a flashback (as with Ursa and Kya's second sighting in The Southern Raiders) or as a hallucination of sorts, like Gyatso in The Guru.

I'd only advocate doing this if the proposal passes... any feedback?

Although it would take a lot of work to go over all the characterboxes, I think it can be useful. That way you see immediatly if a character was a one-episode character or not and what its timeframe in the series was. Lady Lostris 11:05, June 12, 2011 (UTC)
A good idea. I was thinking about this too as this is in many wikis I edit. We could use a template to say that the character was a one-episode character simliar to the {{mo}} template. – Natsu11 · (wallNanatsu no Taizai) 12:00, June 12, 2011 (UTC)
Such a template could possibly be created, but indeed it would still be a lot of work... no bot can be programmed to give a Last Appearance to each character. Also, if a last appearance is the same as the first appearance, only the FA should be linked.
I don't think it's really needed. Some characters would have the same episode as their first and last appearance. --I'm The Bos - Talk - Guardian 12:41, June 12, 2011 (UTC)

I'm all for it. It would be a big task, but not hard, not hard at all. I assume that the LA mention will be in the infobox? Rassilon Dai Li Sprite (Talk - Teru) 13:45, June 12, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm guessing that the most logical place to put it is right under the FA. Lady Lostris 13:52, June 12, 2011 (UTC)

I vigorously support this, and I would even willingly add in the Last Appearance dates to character infoboxes. Including these dates would aid the readers' understanding of the various timeframes within the series. Lovelyb0nes (talkcontribs) 13:55, June 12, 2011 (UTC)

I'm going to open voting shortly.
You only just opened the thread today........please; don't jump things into voting ASAP. We reserve voting for last case scenarios when nothing else works. Vulmen (talkcontribs) 16:23, June 12, 2011 (UTC)
Oh, sorry Vulmy. Didn't know that. :( – Natsu11 · (wallNanatsu no Taizai) 16:24, June 12, 2011 (UTC)
I'm going to have to start it soon Vulmen. On ME Wiki, protocol dictates that when a decent amount of debating has passed, that the proposer opens the voting session and it lasts for 7 days, after which the vote's closed then there is a 7-day cooling period.
You opened it today; there is discussion taking place here (which is more productive than voting), and this isn't the ME Wiki... Vulmen (talkcontribs) 16:45, June 12, 2011 (UTC)
Fair enough. It will most likely pass without a vote.
Our voting policy. The 888th Avatar (talk) 01:52, June 13, 2011 (UTC)
So is it good to go? I tried experimenting with different wiki codes to see if a "last appearance" sub-heading could be placed in the infobox... I even went to other wikis and borrowed codes but it proved futile.... such as "last", "lastappearance", "last appearance"; none of them work... maybe it needs to be created for the site. It definitely looks like it's passed. I'm familiar with the wiki's templates, so if you need any help with doing this, just dump a list on my talk page or here and I'll get around to them. :) The 888th Avatar (talk) 07:04, June 16, 2011 (UTC)

Just as a comment: If you go to the actors' pages (at least the ones I have done) you will find a list of their characters' episodes, so it should be easy to find the last one (at least for when they speak). Quite a few allies (Pipsqueak, Teo, etc.) were seen in the crowd at Zuko's coronation, but having no lines, got no credit. Should that count as the last appearance? Perhaps a 'Seen only' note like the First Appearance listing for Azula. DesertDog (talk) 07:39, June 17, 2011 (UTC)

Good idea DD. If we already follow that policy for first appearances, it might as well be used for last appearances additionally.
