Forums: War Room Blog Commenting

I was looking at user's past blogs and something hit me. I saw the Comment Box dulled out with some words in it that stated the blog hadn't been commented on in over 30 days and there is no need to comment on it. I have always believed in bringing old, and unforgettable, blogs back to life for the joy of our new users. I mean one of IBK's, What makes a fan? blog. That would be a wonderful opportunity for the newest recruits of our wikia to become engaged in. It could give them practice for their future debates. It could give them practice with loaded words and sentence structure. It could even get them more familiar with digging deeper into the heart and soul for the right words to say. What are your thoughts on this topic?? DBZ - May the Elements be with you 01:44, April 24, 2011 (UTC)

I think they should be opened to commenting due to that new users like me can comment on it. Also older users too! (It's okay I didn't forget about you older users) --Prillin101 (talkcontribs) 01:50, April 24, 2011 (UTC)

Bringing back old blog posts is commonly considered to be annoying and unnecessary. More often than not, it's for the purposes of gaining extra badges. I think it should be noted that commenting is only disabled for posts that haven't been commented on for over 30 days. That means that very popular old posts that people continue to comment on will actually remain open. The disabling only kicks in no-one actually comments at all for 30 days. I understand that, but if anybody here is like me, then they like to look at old blogs to see what people like to talk about and debate about. If there was a really good topic or discussion, then that would be a great opportunity for the new users of Avatar Wikia to become involved in. I think we should take away the disabling. Support Support — - I think your right

Then just write a new blog post on the same topic. The old blog posts are understood to be archived; editing them is like bringing up old threads on a talk page archive — annoying. Even if they were very popular, simply bringing them back again and again takes away from the ability and the motivation of users to write new content. Why don't we compromise and make the lack of commenting longer. --Prillin101 (talkcontribs) 00:23, April 25, 2011 (UTC)

Not everything has to be a 'compromise' more so than a solution. 30 days is 'reset' after each comment. So it's a full month of no activity - acceptable. Another problem with bringing up old old old blog posts is people would comment/ask someone something...and not get an answer. Because it's abandoned/those users don't remember it or they have quit coming around. That doesn't promote current community. ^^" Vulmen (talkcontribs) 00:30, April 25, 2011 (UTC)

We could just higher it to 45 days. Half a month more than previously made. --Prillin101 (talkcontribs) 00:33, April 25, 2011 (UTC)

But why? One doesn't just make a "compromise" just because; there needs to be a reason. The 888th Avatar (talk) 01:02, April 25, 2011 (UTC)

Okay, forum done, time not expanded.

Of course it's not. DBZ - May the Elements be with you 01:06, April 25, 2011 (UTC)
