This seems to be the only thing missing from our very condensed articles. I think it is essential to have a section where we can see on which and how many episodes each character has appeared. ― Thailog 19:48, June 20, 2011 (UTC)

I agree that we should add this. We could use a collapsable template like the 'mutiple quality issues' for pages that have longer lists such as Aang and for smaller ones for people like Shoji just add a section at the bottom of their pages. Carloso - Talk 20:24, June 20, 2011 (UTC)

I'm neutral on the idea. On the one hand I think it is needed, but on the other it is tedious work. Entia non sunt multiplicanda praeter necessitatem 20:26, June 20, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, never noticed that actually. But instead of having it in a collapsable table, I think it would look better in a scroll box with smaller font inside it. Rassilon Dai Li Sprite (Talk - Teru) 20:44, June 20, 2011 (UTC)
Good idea Rass, it would look better. H-Man I admit it would be tedious but it'd been fairly easy to see who appears. Carloso - Talk 20:46, June 20, 2011 (UTC)

Well, it can get fairly tedious for those who appeared in several episodes. I mean, Aang, Katara and Sokka appeared in 60 episodes. It could get a little annoying to type all the episodes over and over again. I plan to do this by means of a template, making it so that we only insert numbers and they are rendered into the titles. And for those characters that appeared in every episode, we can use a default function and just paste it on every said character. ― Thailog 21:12, June 20, 2011 (UTC)
Actually, no one character appeared in every single episode. Aang comes the closest, missing only Zuko Alone. Katara and Sokka missed that one as well, plus Appa's Lost Days. Zuko missed a number of episodes in all three seasons and Toph didn't appear at all in Book 1. Nobody else comes close DesertDog (talk) 11:52, June 21, 2011 (UTC)
That's not a problem, is it? All we need is to remove the digits referring to the episode in which they were not featured. ― Thailog 12:19, June 21, 2011 (UTC)
I'm also neutral. It may be needed, but I remember that Aang had a list of appearances, but it was removed. --I'm The Bos - Talk - Guardian 21:16, June 20, 2011 (UTC)
I don't like appearances lists, they just don't look like they belong, but this would be much more subtle. So with good preparation (like the templates), this could be very useful. I'm game. H-man, maybe this could be a new project for your group if this would be accepted. Lady Lostris 21:17, June 20, 2011 (UTC)
See the template at work below. ― Thailog 08:06, June 21, 2011 (UTC)

Question: Should the titles include a prefixed episode number? ― Thailog 12:36, June 21, 2011 (UTC)

I do like it, however, for characters that appear in all or most episodes, I suggest a scrollbox be implemented, such as used here on Wookiepedia just to shorten the length of the article. Also perhaps use a smaller text size? Rassilon Dai Li Sprite (Talk - Teru) 10:10, June 21, 2011 (UTC)

I agree with the scroll box. ― Thailog 11:12, June 21, 2011 (UTC)

I disagree and appose with this idea. Whay do we need it? For letting new users know in which episodes they appeared? We do have references and a user group to add them. And many characters are one episode characters and less-than-5-episode-characters. We have also clearly stated that they are one episode characters. I don't see any reason why we should have them. – Natsu11 · (wallNanatsu no Taizai) 10:58, June 21, 2011 (UTC)

The number of episodes each character was in is irrelevant. The point is accuracy and in-depth cataloging of information, which is the point of the site. Readers shouldn't have to go over the references if they want to see in which episodes some character appeared. That should be offered in a simple user-friendly manner, whether someone appeared on one or on all 61 episodes. An appearances list is a convention of sites like this, much more informative than the image galleries that so many users often try to push in. ― Thailog 11:12, June 21, 2011 (UTC)
It will still be tedious work. Entia non sunt multiplicanda praeter necessitatem 11:54, June 21, 2011 (UTC)
No one is being asked to do anything. Should this be implemented, and so far I haven't seen a good reason not to, it will be done by anyone who wants to make articles the most complete and accurate as possible. ― Thailog 12:19, June 21, 2011 (UTC)
I'm all for it. But isn't that part of the reason what user groups are for? It is significantly tedious work when searching for the appropriate episodes a character appears in, but if a member could finish 2 a day, this project could be wrapped up in about a month or so. Plus, the template made it easier. And, the project isn't limited to just user groups. :)AvaFan MsgMe 12:28, June 21, 2011 (UTC)
Exactly... ― Thailog 12:35, June 21, 2011 (UTC)

Ok, I agree. @H-Man: Its not a hard job. Many characters are only one episode and I believe that the infobox clearly dtates that the charaters were so. – Natsu11 · (wallNanatsu no Taizai) 12:49, June 21, 2011 (UTC)

I didn't say hard, I said tedious.... two different things. Entia non sunt multiplicanda praeter necessitatem 12:54, June 21, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, it doesn't seem to be hard and/or tedious... – Natsu11 · (wallNanatsu no Taizai) 13:15, June 21, 2011 (UTC)
I think this looks good. It's a similar format to what is used on Wookieepedia. --AvatarRokus Ghost (Message meRead my fanon) Energy Saga Dragons, Sieges and Volcanoes 22:42, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

I like the scrollbox too. However, what about for characters like Azula/Zuko, who appeared in some 40-50 episodes? KataraFanboy Send me a messenger hawk Read my fanon! http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o82/yankeesrule4ever/santa-katara1.gif 22:45, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

They would be listed for every episode they appeared in. --AvatarRokus Ghost (Message meRead my fanon) Energy Saga Dragons, Sieges and Volcanoes 22:47, June 23, 2011 (UTC)

  4. Support Support — But instead of the scroll template, we could use the "collapsible collapsed" or "collapsible expanded" classes to make it even more shorter. We can even make the collapsble thing a template (probably called "hidden"?). Just throwing out ideas. – Natsu11 · (wallNanatsu no Taizai) 14:07, June 27, 2011 (UTC)

  4. Neutral Neutral — I still think it is tedious work and considering Aang is the closest to having appeared in all the episodes (just one missed), it will make for boring labour. Entia non sunt multiplicanda praeter necessitatem 19:11, June 27, 2011 (UTC)
  5. Neutral Neutral — It seems like a waste of time and energy to organize information that users could easily find elsewhere. Nevertheless, it dosen't really matter to me how we proceed. Bassmasta2012 (talkcontribs) 01:34, June 28, 2011 (UTC)
  6. Neutral Neutral — The information is already available, but a bit weirdly located on the actors pages. That would at least make it easier to actually do; it'd be mostly copy and paste with the difference being I had the episode number as book.ep rather than split them into books as per the proposal. I'm just about done, having for actors only Sean Marquette (Teen Sozin) and Zach Tyler Eisen left to do; should be done by this weekend. Only a handful of non-speaking appearances -- like the allies at Zuko's coronation -- would have to be tracked down. DesertDog (talk) 11:46, June 28, 2011 (UTC)

Argh. People, this voting procedure is to decide whether or not to adopt the suggested section/template as proposed. As for the idea of collapsible table on infobox: terrible. For those characters that appeared in over 30 episodes this would translate into a huge column of small-font bullet points. Unappealing. And in the past we've had collapsible tables on the bottom of every article. We decided to ban those on the grounds of them being tacky and taking too long to load. Let's make things simple and neat, yes? ― Thailog 19:28, June 27, 2011 (UTC)

Wokay. I'm still good with the scroll template. XD XD --Hasdi (talkcontribs) 19:34, June 27, 2011 (UTC)
Yep, keeping the scroll box. Also, in case people were thinking of making one, please don't make a user group to do this. It can be easily added to the pages, and we don't need a usergroup to run around doing this. Okay? Rassilon Dai Li Sprite (Talk - Teru) 22:20, June 27, 2011 (UTC)
Agreed, no user group is needed. And yes, I think we should stick with the scrolling one. It's similar to what they have on Wookieepedia and it fits neatly into the page. --AvatarRokus Ghost (Message meRead my fanon) Energy Saga Dragons, Sieges and Volcanoes 06:42, June 28, 2011 (UTC)

Thailog, I just thought of something, there is going to have to be a section for the comics, since they are considered canon. Rassilon Dai Li Sprite (Talk - Teru) 07:30, June 28, 2011 (UTC)

That's not a problem at all. We can do it like we do on Young Justice. Do the comics overlap with the episodes, or should they come in a separate section? ― Thailog 09:13, June 28, 2011 (UTC)
Seperate I think. It would be easier if we had the comics seperate from each book, because as far as I know, the comics can be at an unkown time during the series, or even after the series. Rassilon Dai Li Sprite (Talk - Teru) 09:51, June 28, 2011 (UTC)
Also, could the prefixes have three digits, the first being the book no., and the second and third the episode number. Example: 101. The Boy in the Iceberg, 201. The Avatar State, etc. Rassilon Dai Li Sprite (Talk - Teru) 09:52, June 28, 2011 (UTC)
They could, but since we'll be using season headings, it renders the first digit (season) pointless... ― Thailog 09:57, June 28, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I guess. Rassilon Dai Li Sprite (Talk - Teru) 10:01, June 28, 2011 (UTC)
Unless you are using a scrolling template. It can be easy to get lost which heading you are on with a small vertical space. It's just another digit. My 2 cents. --Hasdi (talkcontribs) 10:49, June 28, 2011 (UTC)
I see your point. If no one objects, I will added it. ― Thailog 10:56, June 28, 2011 (UTC)
Wouldn't hurt. Rassilon Dai Li Sprite (Talk - Teru) 12:23, June 28, 2011 (UTC)

Appearances section can now begin to be implemented. Use {{appear}} and {{scroll}} for long lists. Questions and suggestion can be posted here. ― Thailog 16:20, June 28, 2011 (UTC)

Just added an appearances section to Azula. Looks good to me, and I don't think a scroll list is needed for this one. What do you guy think? Oh, and yes, the actress's page was a huge help. Basically I copied this and deleted the episodes she wasn't in. ― Thailog 16:37, June 28, 2011 (UTC)
That works for her - but I wouldn't go any bigger than that. I counted the episodes - it came out to 21 that Azula was in. So should we maybe say use scrolls for characters with 25 or more appearances - something like that? --AvatarRokus Ghost (Message meRead my fanon) Energy Saga Dragons, Sieges and Volcanoes 19:30, June 28, 2011 (UTC)
I'm good with 25. ― Thailog 20:28, June 28, 2011 (UTC)
