Countdowns will not be added to articles. A countdown was added to the main page.

So, earlier today I took the liberty of adding countdown timers just to see some community consensus, on the upcoming three episodes, so far, alot of positive feedback is coming. I was wondering if I could make stylized templates/source code for these countdowns and replace the countdown text with some more better looking countdowns, right now I have Template:SeasonFinale that I made just as a userbox, and It looks okay, but I want to make better ones for the page, can I, and can we do this for every new upcoming episode? Suzon | Talk co Fanon

I don't think this is needed. It doesn't look like something that belongs in a formal article, more appropriate for a userpage or a blog. --AvatarRokus Ghost (Message meRead my fanon) Energy Saga Dragons, Sieges and Volcanoes 18:57, June 10, 2012 (UTC)

ARG, it doesn't look like this on articles, and alot of people are saying they like it. :) --ZUKO! Whaz Hrer 19:10, June 10, 2012 (UTC)

Still, I agree with ARG. At any rate, you can't put them on until community consensus is formally achieved. A Light Shining in the Darkness - Talk Jin Lo! 19:11, June 10, 2012 (UTC)
Oppose per ARG. And if you wanted community consensus on it, you should have started the forum before just throwing them on. Katara and Bolin Fanboy Send me a messenger hawk Katara Sprite Season 3Bolin sprite 19:12, June 10, 2012 (UTC)
Where are the people that like it? Are they going to comment on this forum? --AvatarRokus Ghost (Message meRead my fanon) Energy Saga Dragons, Sieges and Volcanoes 19:14, June 10, 2012 (UTC)

Some are nonies, look at the comments section on the three upcoming episodes. Here is an example of how it looks right now:

June 16 2012 15:00:00 UTC until Turning the Tides airs!

and you just remove it once it airs. It will attract good attention to the wiki, and remind the fandom when the episode is going to air. It will get more people ready to edit :) --ZUKO! Whaz Hrer 19:15, June 10, 2012 (UTC)

Then please make the forum and attempt to achieve consensus before adding them to the article. This is one of those things that needs community approval before they're put in action. A Light Shining in the Darkness - Talk Jin Lo! 19:16, June 10, 2012 (UTC)

I see nothing wrong with this proposal.--Omar067 (wallcontribs) 19:17, June 10, 2012 (UTC)

Definitely not. Countdowns look unencyclopedic and juvenile, especially compared to how formal the rest of the article(s) are, and as such, they jeopardize the integrity of the wiki. I would support, however, a countdown box on the main page, but that's about as far as I'll go. —Random Ranaun (Talk to me!) 19:23, June 10, 2012 (UTC)
Seconded with Ranaun. Maybe a countdown for the next episode could be put up on the main page, but other than that, it's simply unencyclopedic. It's the kind of thing meant to be put on userpages, not formal articles. A Light Shining in the Darkness - Talk Jin Lo! 19:26, June 10, 2012 (UTC)

The one with only writing on it and colored does not look that bad, and it is backed by alot of people. It is a good idea, and it would only be there until the episode airs. It's uncyclopedic only because most encyclopedia's are on paper, they would have countdowns if they were able :P :)ZUKO! Whaz Hrer 19:28, June 10, 2012 (UTC)

By unencyclopedic I mean informal. This wiki is an encyclopedia and a source of information, not a fansite. A Light Shining in the Darkness - Talk Jin Lo! 19:30, June 10, 2012 (UTC)
It doesn't serve any purpose. Somehow seeing count-downs on the up-coming episodes' pages, gave me a naive feeling. In ARG's words: Doesn't belong in a a formal place. But I don't understand why you've put them up already without any sort of consensus, heck 'almost' nobody even has clue of whats happening when they see a countdown on those articles. TheBloodbender (wallcontribs) 19:33, June 10, 2012 (UTC)
Backed by a lot of people? By my count, only 2 users and 2 anons support it, and obviously, there is definitely a lot more opposition than support. —Random Ranaun (Talk to me!) 19:37, June 10, 2012 (UTC)

4 anons actually =DD > :( ZUKO! Whaz Hrer 19:42, June 10, 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, Zuko, but you're going to have to get some community consensus here in the War Room before we add this, and I just don't agree with something informal as this being in a formal source of information. A Light Shining in the Darkness - Talk Jin Lo! 19:43, June 10, 2012 (UTC)

Zuko42899, most of the anons who commented on your countdown are the same ones. You can check this my hovering the mouse over the link. —Random Ranaun (Talk to me!) 19:49, June 10, 2012 (UTC)

This is the feedback, It is a good idea, I'm telling you :) --ZUKO! Whaz Hrer 19:19, June 10, 2012 (UTC)

Two of those are duplicates, a few are you replying to them and the one about bloodbending I don't see as relevant. --AvatarRokus Ghost (Message meRead my fanon) Energy Saga Dragons, Sieges and Volcanoes 19:29, June 10, 2012 (UTC)

Sorry I copied the whole chain of comments, and no they are not, there is a difference it just seems that way at first, one says thanks for adding, the other say thanks for adding it :) ZUKO! Whaz Hrer 19:37, June 10, 2012 (UTC)

Oppose per everyone else. ― Thailog 22:27, June 10, 2012 (UTC)~
Just like Random Ranaum above said, I'd support a countdown (weekly/per episode) just on the main page. And in more formal colour (dark brown or something that fit the default infobox colours) and small size, but on a visible corner (the upper right one seems ok) Master Ratava 11:52, June 11, 2012 (UTC)
Sorry, Zuko42899. But community consensus is needed here; as in, this very forum thread before any features could be added wiki-wide. And I oppose this as well; countdowns are fine in any informal outlet (i.e. fan site), but we here at Avatar Wiki abide by formal layouts like that of an encyclopaedia. Having a countdown timer in an article is just out of place. It's a cool idea, though. :) Axiovatar Talk 12:00, June 11, 2012 (UTC)
No need for more JavaScript errors, etc. Let's keep it simple. I would, however, support the idea of having a countdown on the main page until the end of season one of The Legend of Korra.
Edit: Here's an example of what it could look like:
June 23 2012 15:00:00 UTC until the end of season one of The Legend of Korra.
