The Fire Finches were a gang of street children that lived in the Fire Nation Capital by the late Hundred Year War.
History[]
Despite consisting of children, the Fire Finches were a longstanding group, constantly recruiting new members, while those who had reached adulthood left the group.[1] Accordingly, the gang became notorious in the capital, with locals knowing to always watch their money, especially in Zoryu Park. To avoid the trouble, some locals opted to bribe the street children with candy in order to be left alone. Over the years the Domestic Forces repeatedly attemptd to oust the gang from Zoryu Park, but the Fire Finches were skilled in evading guards and usually scattered whenever the police started to search for them, reuniting later on.[2]
Organization[]
A tight-knit community, the Fire Finches consisted of homeless children who were seeking protection and a place to belong. The group provided its members not just with a chance of physical, but also spiritual survival. The Fire Finches chose their leaders, and deposed those whom they regard as no longer adequate. The leader as of 95 AG was Rini, a young firebender.[1] The group was usually based in Zoryu Park, using an aviary as headquarters, and lived off petty crime such as pickpocketing.[2] In addition, the gang's members knew numerous tricks to distract guards and hustle naive civilians.[1][2]
The Fire Finches were well informed about the capital, knowing not just the streets in the entire settlement, including Hari Bulkan, but also the secret underground tunnels. The gang used these ancient tunnels as hideouts and ways to move around unseen, although they had to compete for them with rival bandits and smugglers.[2]
