By King Bumis Heir Part of the Avatar: The Legacy of Rong Yan continuity.

The Zu Dynasty is the current royal family that resides inside the Royal Palace of Omashu City in the heart of the Oma Kingdom. The current dynasty begins with Earth King Gohun the first king of the Zu Dynasty, who lived during Avatar Ilah's life and died a few years into Avatar Kwan Chun's life. The Dynasty survived through six Avatars and it is unknown whether it continues past Yangchen or not.

History[]

Earth King Gohun of Zu[]

The previous earth monarch who stepped down was Earth Queen Song of Shun, she married the son of a farmer. A young man named Hao Li Zu, from the province of Hou Tian and bore Hao Li two sons one named Gohun and the other Zuowu who was born two years after Gohun. Gohun was born in 1055 BG and Zuowu in 1053 BG.

Both boys were born earthbenders and would often practice together, their favorite sport was called earthball. They used a ball made of boar oxen skin stuffed with hay use earthbending to get the ball going from one goal to the other.

The relationship between both brothers was so well and close when Gohun became Earth King of Omashu, he made his brother his grand secretariat. Eventually came the time when Gohun was old enough to marry and have children. For eight straight years he failed to impregnate his wife, Yun cursed him with infertility since birth.

Humble as the man could be he now had no heir but his brother offered to give him an heir. Gohun agreed to the deal, his brother's firstborn would be made heir to the throne. Thus establishing the bloodline of Zuowu as royalty.

Gohun met Avatar Ilah once when she fled from the Fire Nation, he granted her land in Wushan where she built the village of Sichuan, due east of the capital Tianzhu.

Earth King Ji of Zu[]

Ji was the second monarch of the Zu Dynasty of the Oma Kingdom, he was the son of Zuowu and the nephew of King Gohun. With the fertility issues, Gohun had he was unable to have children but he gave the inheritance to his brother's firstborn.

Gohun stepped down in 980 BG at the age of 75, personally coronating his nephew. Ji ascended the throne at the age of 18. A new line began his father and uncle were his advisers since they held the experience and knowledge on how to run the kingdom. During the reign of Ji, he conquered about five Qiangdian states. These were had different names but when they have conquered them he renamed the provinces, Yang, Jintai, Tongren, Tanghai, and Huangpu each one named after Earth Kings from the Oma Kingdom from previous dynasties.

In the civil war, this blew a huge blow to Regent Lord Qici of the Tong Kingdom, ever since then Qici tried to win back those states but failed. Ji became good friends with the successor of Avatar Ilah, Kwan Chun. Around this time Ji had a son he named Peng who was born in 940 BG. Peng and Ji became friends with Avatar Kwan Chun while he wasn't allowed in the Qiangda Kingdom while Earth King Yao was the ruler.

When Kwan Chun was killed and the news spread to the Oma Kingdom this motivated Ji to attack the Qiangda Kingdom head-on. There was a time period in Yao's reign from 912 BG - 892 BG Yao lost seven states and half of three states. Five states were taken from him, two seceded from the Qiangda Kingdom and remained neutral, while the Oma Kingdom took half of three states which were Ru, Pingyao and Gongzhu provinces.

Earth King Peng of Zu[]

Ji died on the throne in 896 BG, his son Peng took over, Peng worked with Chief Nikaitchuk to allow Kwan Chun's successor Avatar Anana to train safely inside the walls of his capital city, Omashu. When they met he revealed to the girl that he was close friends with her predecessor and expressed his liking to her allowing her to do whatever she wanted.

To keep Anana safe from Yao, he barred her from entering Qiangda Kingdom lands until he won the war. If Yao were to discover her identity while she traveled throughout the kingdom it could prove to be a hazard to her life. Eventually, she did leave breaking Peng's heart when he learned she fled to Ba Sing Se. Cuzhuang had lied to Peng to cover his tracks in the involvement to prevent his arrest of treason and trial for execution.

He didn't make her an enemy he simply banned her from entering Omashu and the Omashu province as a whole. Allowing her access to the rest of the Kingdom, however. Peng Zu never revealed to the public eye that his wife could bear children, it was common knowledge the Zu Dynasty was to end after Zu Peng's death. Peng Zu had three sons, two conjoined twins and another son in 822 BG from a young concubine. He feared his conjoined twin sons would be cast by the civilians as a monstrosity or a curse from Yama or Yun, so he hid them for most of their lives.

Peng stripped both of the twins of their birthrights as apparent heirs and held the throne much longer. Eventually came a time where his twin sons Hundun and Dinggou had enough of hiding from the rest of the world that they revealed themselves and held Peng hostage. In 830 BG, they lost a battle with Avatar Anana who critically injured Hundun's twin Dinggou and tossed the two into the Spirit World.

Eight years have gone by, Peng had a third son, the child's name was a combination of his father's name and the father of the concubine. They named him Jiachu, Peng passed away in the year 770 BG.

Earth King Jiachu of Zu[]

His third son Jiachu ascended to the throne at 52 and held it for 27 years. Jiachu had a son of his own, he named the boy Gao. Gao was born 781 BG, his wife also gave birth to a baby girl but she died in the womb. The little girl was dead as she came out of Jiachu's queen consort, Jiachu's reign was mostly involved in fighting the Qiangda Kingdom and losing a state or two.

Earth King Gao of Zu[]

n 743 BG, Gao Zu took the throne and the crown at 38 years old after his father had retired from being king for 27 years. During the Thirty Year War, Gao Zu lent his aid to Ta Po, when the Qiangda Kingdom had become a target of the Southern Water Tribe, who had aid from the Northern Water Tribe as part of their ancient treaty. The war had begun on raids from the Water Tribes to coastal towns of the eastern Earth Kingdom. It is unknown the main reason why the Water Tribes had attacked the coast of the eastern Earth Kingdom, but that had sparked the war. Where the Earth Kingdom nations had retaliated in return.

It was fifteen years later into the war that Gao Zu had pulled out his large military from the battle of Gunglao Forest. Leaving the Ba Sing Se military alone, two hundred men died in the battle of Gunglao, if Gao Zu hadn't pulled his men out it would've been a decisive victory for the Earth Kingdom. It is also unknown as to why Gao Zu had pulled out from the war, but if you were to ask you would be ignored.

Avatar Ku Tei, had threatened Gao Zu for the completely coward decision he had made at Gunglao. The two fought in a battle in Gao Zu's arena but the duel ended in a stalemate, Gao Zu never told anyone why and to this day it is still unknown. Captain Senlin and a few others were later found in Chao recovering from their wounds in Gunglao. General Senlin and four others were the sole survivors of Gunglao while the rest of the forest was covered with rotting bodies from both sides.

In 676 BG, a concubine bore Gao Zu his only heir a boy named Hui, Hui was born an earthbender. The boy showed talent and was considered a prodigy to be one of the greatest earthbenders of all time.

The only problem with his son Hui was the boy showed no progress in speaking, he wasn't born deaf. The boy just never grasped the concept of communicating verbally. He was a mute and so Gao Zu hired a tutor to teach his son to communicate with his hands. In what they considered a universal sign language used by all nations. The tutor remained as Hui's full-time interpreter as he was threatened by Gao Zu if he didn't stay. Hui is straightforward yet remains a mystery as he garners secrets that even Gao Zu doesn't know.

Qiang Zhen requested to meet Gao Zu in Ba Sing Se to ask for an alliance between the two Earth Kings. They would unify again to fight the Water Tribes and win the war once and for all. Gao Zu declined going to Ba Sing Se and instead told the young Earth King to meet him in Huang He. Huang He was the capital of the Hammi Tribe in the Si Wong state, thus the Si Wong Sandbenders were neutral even if the Oma Kingdom controlled the state.

Before Gao Zu left he was going to leave Naoren De his adviser as regent lord but instead he took him along because last time Naoren was regent. Naoren implemented a holiday celebrated the Water Tribes where people would prank each other in the name of some goblin. Instead he called his mute son Hui to take regency until he returned. Gao Zu later found out when Hui confessed that Torngark's Day of Dupes was his idea and not Naoren, the old king forgave his son.

He arrived to speak with Gao Zu under the eye of Chief Daj and his daughter Princess Amira, an argument between the two kings led to Gao Zu assaulting Qiang Zhen. A boulder that could've injured the young Earth King was destroyed by his general Qingbao. The sixty-year ceasefire between the Qiangda and Oma Kingdom ended that day, sixty years ago, it was established by Gao Zu and Ta Po to allow Ku Tei to kill Senlin. Since then the ceasefire had not been broken.

Gao Zu ordered Daj to set up blockades near the coast of his state and in three years doubled the soldiers at each border state. He lockdown his country to Qiangda Kingdom citizens and soldiers, all enemies were killed on sight. This severed the trade between both Kingdoms as well which caused a loss in trade revenues of both countries, Dahongpao which constantly transported citizens across both kingdoms ceased operation with the enemy kingdom. Cha Lundu the governor of Wuyi set a blockade on her side of Chuan Bay to prevent enemy ships from entering the Oma Kingdom.

Earth King Hui of Zu[]

When Hui takes the throne in 571 BG, he becomes the first Earth King in Oma Kingdom history to be verbally disabled. His interpreter becomes his mouthpiece and rules with an iron fist.
