Yingbi Nie is a minor character in Avatar: Civil Strife, he appeared in Chapter 6 as part of an old tale told in the temples shared by Airen.
History[]
As mentioned by Airen, the tale of Yingbi is often shared in temples when nobles refuse to give an offering of coin to the local temple. The story of Yingbi, follows a greedy noble from before the civil war. One who refused to donate to the temple, homeless, or charity. Yingbi treats a homeless man in the Middle Ring like an animal while his family witnessed in horror.
Yingbi is later sent to the province of Duryaja where he and his family own land. The noble passes through the Taihua Mountains, which is a mountain range between Ba Sing Se and Duryaja province. On the road he hears faint cries of an infant child, which draw him to find the child in the terrible weather that has befallen the path. Eventually, being led to a cave where the cries have gotten louder, once inside the cries cease and instead he hears crunching noises and growling. Yingbi found himself face-to-face with a wooly creature with the facial features of a human, known as, the Tao Tie. The creature kills and devours Yingbi ending the story.
Airen mentioned that if you ever saw Yingbi's apparition in the mountains of Taihua, that it was best not to walk but to run out of there for your the next meal of the Tao Tie.
Abilities[]
Yingbi was born a non-bender however it is known that he served as a statesman for his family. Like his other family members he knew how to finance his money and handled it very well.
