Wendy is a high-ranked nobleman of the Fire Nation, daughter of Lady Regina, and Lord Haku, both prodigies benders in their respective feelings. Following the imprisonment of the Avatar, Wendy ascended to the position of the Empress Consort of the Fire Nation, having since married Azula and borne her three children; Crown Princess Freya, a cruel and sadistic person, Prince Coren, a shy and frail prince, and finally Princess Jade, an emotionless and callous person.

Born from a waterbender from the Southern Water Tribe and a firebender from the Fire Nation, she inherited many of her parents' prodigious skills, making her a dangerous and powerful General; despite her constant usage of her waterbending skills, Wendy is respected for her favorable stance on the Fire Nation, and complete rejection of her mother's tribe, and culture. One of Team Avatar's most powerful adversaries, she was feared for her complete disregard for Humanity and her complete mastery over her waterbending skills.

History[]

Early life[]

Early childhood[]

Wendy was born to Lady Regina and Lord Haku in 85 AG and was named after her paternal grandmother, Lady Wendlachester. Wendy grew with all the riches, splendor, and privileges of nobility in the Fire Nation. Her ability to waterbend was frowned upon causing her to be somewhat shunned by the other Fire Nation nobility, with Fire Lord Azulon eventually learning of it, however her complete rejection of her mother's tribe and culture, as well as her prodigious talent as a firebender somewhat convinced him of her loyalty. However, he still had doubts, and decided to test her loyalty to the Fire Nation, by sending her to assassinate a member of the nobility who had recently rebelled against the Fire Nation. Having completed the job, Wendy was then ordered to attend the Royal Fire Academy for Girls to increase her proficiency with firebending. She was eventually chosen to be Azula's fiancée due to her prodigious talent and ruthless personality.

Despite the heightened tensions in her fiancée's family due to her fiancée's father's favoritism of Azula, cohesion and peace were still strong among the young family during their childhood years; for example, the two would often reenact the final duel of Love amongst the Dragons watched by Wendy.

Deteriorating relationship with Zuko and Ursa[]

Though both Azula was clearly favored by Ozai, she felt that her mother loved Zuko much more than her, creating a rift of jealousy between her and Ursa and Zuko. Confronted daily with this mother/son bonding, Azula often attempted to gain Ursa's attention in some way. However, these attempts usually resulted in family quarrels. Wendy ultimately sided with Azula, and isolated Zuko and taunted him alongside her fiancée.

Ursa's banishment[]

She was briefly mentioned by Azula, to Azula's father as a "interesting person".

Rise to Princess Consort[]

Wendy, alongside Azula, Zhao, and Iroh, watched Zuko's Agni Kai with his father. When Ozai burned Zuko's face, Wendy comments on how entertaining that was, a cruel smirk making it's way onto her face. When Zuko was banished from the Fire Nation, Azula officially became Ozai's heir, something that Wendy congratulated Azula on. For the next three years, she would continue her relentless training in firebending, strategy, and combat, until she felt ready to serve in the Fire Nation's military alongside Azula. By this time, her firebending advanced to the level where her fire was blue like that of Azula, and she had mastered lightning generation; making her a formidable adversary.

Winter 100 AG[]

Shortly after Zhao failed during his siege on the Northern Water Tribe, both Wendy and Azula were summoned by Ozai to his throne room. He charged them both with the mission of finding and capturing Zuko and Iroh, as they were labeled traitors to the Fire Nation.

Personality[]

"You must be a waterbender, so I'm going to have to kill you now. Your brother is also a comrade to the Avatar, so I'm going to kill you both. "
―Wendy talking to a captured Katara about her and Sokka's fate

Born a noble and hailed as a prodigy, Wendy grew up to become whimsical and callous.  She relentlessly drilled herself toward perfection and settled for nothing less from herself or those who served her. In a way, her personality was very similar to Azula, as they both expected perfection from themselves and their subordinates. She believed that power and domination were the defining traits of strength, and as such would only help others if she thought there was some personal gain at stake. Despite having a mother who hailed from the Southern Water Tribe, Wendy possessed no warm feelings towards her mother's homeland, rebuking those who spoke of her Water Tribe heritage. Like her mother, she rejects her heritage, and doesn't think much of those who possess Waterbending abilities, unless they posses abilities that match hers. She harbored neither pity nor mercy for those she marked as treasonous or inferior. Despite those traits, she harbored a much sweeter and gentler side towards her younger sister, Enceladus, who was later assassinated by the Southern Water Tribe Chieftain Hakoda, which later led to her harboring a personal vendetta against Hakoda, which was later resolved when she murdered him.

Abilities[]

Waterbending[]

Wendy was one of the most skilled and powerful waterbenders of her time, recognized as a prodigy by her own prodigious mother, Ozai, and Zuko. With a single swift swish of her hand, she was able to freeze the molecules in the air and turn them into sharp ice needles with which to pierce her enemies. Having drilled herself and learned from a true waterbending master, Wendy is considerably more powerful than Katara and is recognized as the most powerful waterbender of all-time. Her prodigious talent allowed her to become a powerful waterbender, and even Katara recognized her talent. She rapidly developed her skill at waterbending, and possessed such fine control over her waterbending skills, that she was even feared by many prominent Fire Nation Military Generals, chief among them General Zhao and General Iroh, who called her a frightening enigma. She was able to freeze, create waves, sink ships, cut through anything with pressured water jets.
