Sokka Pathuk is a dominant waterbending master born in the Southern Water Tribe to Emperor Hakoda and Empress Kya as their first child, and the older brother of Katara. The mate of Zuko, he is the brother-in-law of Azula, Maya, and Melody, the adopted brother-in-law of Toph Beifong, and the father of Saoirse and Kiara. Like his younger sister, Katara, Sokka is a skilled and powerful bender who would do anything to protect those that he cares about.
Following his father's departure for war, Sokka was raised by his grandmother Kanna, and his mother along with his younger sister. He and his family also helped take care of Ozai during the final few months of his pregnancy. Hakoda left along with all of the other men in his tribe to fight the Fire Nation when Sokka was only 14 years old.
Despite his desire to join his father, Sokka was not permitted to accompany the men on the mission and was left behind with his younger sister, Azula, and Zuko. As there were no other teenage boys in the tribe, Sokka was the second oldest male in the South Pole, behind Zuko, and, therefore, left as the leader of the tribe, sharing the responsibility with Zuko, Katara, and Azula.
History[]
Early life[]
Even as a child, Sokka had a protective nature that fueled his determination to protect those he loves.
Sokka was born at the South Pole to Emperor Hakoda and Kya in 84 AG, only a few months younger than Zuko, under the glow of a blue moon at dawn. Growing up as part of a tribe that lived in the remains of the Southern Water Tribe's ruined capital, Sokka was raised from a young age to be a warrior and possessed much knowledge of Water Tribe weapons and tactics.
When his father left with the other men of the tribe to fight in the Hundred Year War, Sokka was put under his mother and Gran Gran's care and along with his sister and their friends, became the tribe's last line of defense.
