Prince Setka is the crowned Prince of the Isoro Empire's 20th Dynasty. Setka is a minor character in the fanon Avatar: Civil Strife.

History[]

Setka was born in 1934 BG, to Pharaoh Shabaka and Queen Consort Asenath in Bekini. He was their first-born child therefore making him the crowned heir to the throne. For years, the couple struggled to have children until this miracle occurred. At the age of four, Setka, discovered he was a sandbender and since then he was personally trained by his father. Spending years training he finally mastered the art at the age of fifteen. Setka excelled in his academic and combative education in his early teens.

However, he did become a rebel in his mid-teens and was known to escape the palace from time to time. Which caused Shabaka to double the patrol around the palace. Although Setka's loophole is to command them to let him go into the city beyond the palace. Where he's made friends outside with a ragtag group of nobles in Upper Bekini. Since he was a little boy he ended being arranged to marry a foreign princess of Omashu, over the years they communicated through letters. Eventually, meeting her in person on her coming of age party. When Chu Zi and Setka return to Bekini his family will prepare their wedding. Which according to Dai Hau will take about two weeks.

Coming of Age[]

Setka along with Shabaka, and Zaphnath arrived as guests to Omashu for the celebration of Chu Zi's coming of age party. There he saw as his future wife fought animals in the palace arena. Remaining in the background he participated in the party at the end of the night where he and his relatives feasted on Omashu's delicacies. He even joined Chu Zi in a group dance with her friends. The next morning Setka waited outside the palace with his little brother, when his father arrived with his bride-to-be. Setka convinced her to join them in Bekini.

Union of Two Bloods[]

In the period leading up to his marriage to Chu Zi, Setka was formally presented as Crowned Repat of Bekini and heir to the Isoro throne. Prior to the ceremony, he engaged in a private discussion with his father, Pharaoh Shabaka, during which Setka expressed uncertainty regarding his readiness to inherit the throne. During this exchange, Shabaka disclosed that he had been diagnosed with Khesef en Hat (“Withering of the Core”), an illness expected to shorten his life. The conversation served both as a personal reassurance and as a transfer of paternal and political responsibility, emphasizing duty, restraint, and the continuity of governance.

Following this exchange, Setka participated in a formal diplomatic meal hosted by Shabaka for Earth King Yeman and Queen-Mother Dai Hau. During the banquet, Setka served as a secondary host, engaging the guests in discussions about Bekini’s architecture, cultural institutions, and ceremonial traditions. He also addressed logistical and ceremonial matters related to the upcoming wedding, including Princess Nefer II's absence due to her involvement in the bride’s preparations.

After the banquet, Setka escorted the Oma royals toward Chu Zi’s chambers. While waiting outside, he engaged in a prolonged private conversation with Earth King Yeman. During this exchange, Setka expressed his apprehensions about kingship, leadership, and the isolation that comes with rule. The conversation revealed mutual recognition between the two rulers regarding inherited authority, grief, and the burdens of succession. This interaction marked one of Setka’s earliest portrayals as a reflective and self-aware political heir rather than a purely ceremonial figure.

During the wedding ceremony, Setka was formally presented to the court and the priesthood as the living heir to the Isoro dynasty. He underwent a full religious anointing invoking the Isoro pantheon, after which the Omashu Great Earth Sage conducted a parallel invocation for Chu Zi. The ceremony culminated in the binding of Setka’s and Chu Zi’s hands with the Thread of Union, symbolizing the political and spiritual alliance between the Isoro Empire and the Oma Kingdom.

Throughout the ceremony, Setka adhered strictly to ceremonial protocol and was publicly presented as both a dynastic successor and a political bridge between the two nations. His conduct during the wedding emphasized composure, restraint, and acknowledgment of the responsibilities associated with both marriage and succession.

Abilities[]

Setka was born a sandbender and demonstrated early aptitude with his element. By the age of fifteen, he had achieved functional mastery, allowing him to employ sandbending with precision and control rather than brute force. His training emphasized discipline and restraint, reflecting its intended use in leadership and defense rather than spectacle.

In parallel with his formal education, Setka received extensive instruction under his father, Pharaoh Shabaka. This training extended beyond martial skill and included archery, statecraft, diplomacy, political theory, and economic administration. Shabaka ensured that Setka’s education mirrored his own preparation for rule, prioritizing breadth of knowledge and long-term governance over specialization. As a result, Setka entered adulthood equipped with both elemental proficiency and a comprehensive understanding of leadership responsibilities.
