Sakana is a minor character in the fanon Avatar: The Legacy of Rong Yan. Sakana is the second in command to Unaraq's fishing crew when Unaraq is absent he is the leader of the crew.
History[]
Sakana was first seen in Book One Air of the series Avatar: The Legacy of Rong Yan and was later introduced and identified as "Sakana", the second in command to Unaraq's fisherman crew.
Not much is known of Sakana other than he mentions he has a son and a wife. Sakana is rather strict around the other fishermen when Unaraq is absent. He mostly keeps his business to himself and doesn't go into detail about his life.
Reuniting with the Avatar[]
In 659 BG, he met the Avatar only from a distance when Unaraq's crew was selling fish to the city of Yin La in the Fire Nation. A year later in 658 BG, he meets Rong Yan for the second time around in Iqaluit two weeks after Rong Yan and Aloi arrive in Iqaluit.
Rong Yan joins Unaraq and his fishermen for a day out at sea, where Sakana with the assistance of Kuma teach Rong Yan to catch fish with waterbending. Giving him the basic exercise of feeling the fluidity of water and eventually watching him catch a baby mantashark which he kills and keeps the barb as a trophy.
Mysterious Past[]
The Blood Moon[]
Later in the middle of Book Two, it was revealed that Sakana was a bloodbender. As he began to act differentally around everyone, he only began to keep to himself and became paranoid.
It was all due to the bloodbending holiday known as the Blood Moon. Where the bloodbenders would visit a shrine of the cannibal spirit known as Atshen. Atshen would cleanse the bloodbenders of their madness and make them slightly stronger.
The entire group was horrified, and each member fought Sakana off, until the final blow was dealt by the Avatar. According to Sakana himself, and the journal he had carried along with him all this time.
It is said, that his father Aipaloovik, had forced Sakana to learn of this bending ability, and would often take his son on supposed hunting trips only to train his son in bloodbending.
After his father took him to Atshen's shrine, he had turned on his father for abusing the boy. And was later sheltered by a woman who also was a bloodbender but only used it for good not evil. His old life was forgotten when Aumanil adopted the boy.
It was also later discovered that Aumanil had taught Sakana how to use bloodbending for healing. As it was more effective than healing with water.
Abilities[]
Sakana was born a waterbender. Not a gifted one but he knew his stuff. Sakana, unlike the other men in the crew, does not use fishing tools, he uses his abilities of waterbending to catch his fish.
Sakana is a master waterbender, but never uses advanced techniques only when his life is in danger or when it is needed for his very survival. If Sakana, was to ever have his chi blocked, he is also a master in club weaponry, making him a formidable foe.

The entire group was horrified, and each member fought Sakana off, until the final blow was dealt by the Avatar. Rong Yan, had learnt of this unique and horrendous ability when one of his past lives, had shown him her life, to see those who succumb to bloodbending have long term effects of insanity.
And even the ones who claim they have been 'cleansed' are wrong. That there is no cure to the insanity that bloodbending brings to the table.
