By King Bumis Heir Part of the Avatar: The Legacy of Rong Yan continuity.

The Qiangda Dynasty is the current royal family that resides inside the Royal Palace of Ba Sing Se, Qiangda Kingdom. The current dynasty begins with Earth King Avanindra the 38th Earth King, who lived during Avatar Ilah's life and died a few years into Avatar Kwan Chun's life. The Dynasty survived through six Avatars and it is unknown whether it continues past Yangchen or not.

History[]

38th Earth King Avanindra of Qiangda[]

The monarchy changed hands after 37th Earth King Xi of Tong's daughters refused the throne. With no heirs given when Avatar Xi stepped down from the throne to spend the rest of his days with his wife Hua in the Hou Tian province, a regent lord took the throne. A nephew was discovered in the Ru province and was made the crown prince until he became of age and the regent lord placed by Avatar Xi stepped down.

Avanindra rose to power at the age of 25 in the year 1025 BG. He got married in 985 BG and four years later his consort bore him a son named Yao, in 981 BG. During his later life, Avanindra, held a secret war against the Fire Nation after Ayah's ambassador slew Avanindra's adviser, the Grand Secretariat. The secret war was later discovered by Avatar Ilah. To end the war she raided the palace in the Avatar State and killed Earth King Avanindra. Avanindra was dethroned at the age of 99, which led to the rise of Earth King Yao, his son. Yao succeeded Avanindra and became a tyrannical ruler.

39th Earth King Yao of Qiangda[]

Yao, declared war on all Air Nomads though, one day an ambassador from the Air Nomads had arrived to have peace talks with the Earth King. Yao, imprisoned him in jail that day, early in the morning a law had been passed by that all Air Nomads who set foot on Earth Kingdom territory were to be extorted on sight, or imprisoned.

The ambassador was none other than Kwan Chun's guardian monk. The years sped by as the Air Nomads who resided on Earth Kingdom soil were killed and/or imprisoned. Some of the king's men had actually quit, they wanted no part in Yao's crimes against humanity. A couple of men stayed, those had intentions on ridding the land of airbenders.

Yao time and time again, had propaganda rallies and posters all over the city and kingdom, many men would travel to Ba Sing Se to join Yao's army. He persuaded young men to join his army, and law-abiding citizens as well. Years had passed, when word spread around that Kwan Chun was a fully-realized Avatar. Yao's army had grown five times than its original amount. More than 11,000 men had joined the military.

When Kwan Chun, had learned of Yao's crimes on Air Nomads, he traveled directly towards the palace. Kwan Chun had warned Yao about the war, and releasing his guardian monk. He also warned Yao that if he continued that Kwan Chun would return to execute him.

Yao did not feel threatened but felt there was a danger that was placed upon his kingdom. Yao had the guards seize the Avatar, who retaliated and killed all of the guards within the throne room.

Yao had told Kwan Chun, that his 11,000 troops have been deployed, and as of right now are marching towards all four of the air temples. Kwan Chun raced toward the closest one being in the Hankou province. He raced toward it only to learn that the entire army was sent to Baiyan Air Temple. Kwan Chun entered the Avatar State and killed armies of men but they just kept coming. In the end, he sacrificed himself for his people, Yao's men chopped the Avatar's head off. After this they were ordered to stand down and retreat, this ended the war.

Years later, Avatar Anana learned that Yao's armies killed her predecessor Avatar Kwan Chun when they invaded the Gangdise Shan mountains where the Baiyan Air Temple was nestled. Yao banned Air Nomads from entering Qiangda Kingdom lands and wanted to evict them by force out of the Gangdise Shan mountain range and the Shang Qiao islands.

He believed the treaties made by the Shang and Xia Kingdoms no longer meant anything when the Zhou Kingdom defeated both during the warring periods of the first Earth Empire. All three unified under the Zhou banner becoming the first Earth Kingdom. The decline of the kingdom resulted in the Bai Da and Chengdu provinces seceding from the Qiangda Kingdom and remaining neutral. While the Oma Kingdom saw this as an advantage they forced Qiangda military out of a few provinces gaining territory to invade the capital.

Even his court of nobles rebelled against him a few of them hiring assassins to remove Yao from power. At least then they believed they could control the crown prince, in a quick ditch effort, Yao founded the Baojun Yan, a secret police force loyal to only Yao and Shahuang, named after the regent lord who ruled before Avatar Xi took the throne.

Yao would not listen and often defy the advice given to him by the Earth Sages, because he only trusted the Baojun Yan for advice. He ignored most of the court who told him about raising tax and fighting against the Air Nomads. The court also tried telling Earth King Yao not to fight with the High Sage of the Earth sages but he didn't listen to that either and so, he got himself into a lot of trouble because he didn't listen. Yao liked the Baojun Yan, he felt like they trusted him and that he could trust them more.

This would waste a lot of money especially since Yao couldn't exactly fight after more provinces refused to follow his orders, causing them to be taken by enemy forces or have the governors politically shift to the Oma Kingdom.

During this time, the crown prince of the Qiangda Kingdom was Wang's brother Shahuang, the prince was alike his father. His coronation was prevented by a resistance group led by a man named Rari. Together they recruited more citizens of the city to rally against the Earth King. Later one evening, a year later, they visited a library in the university where they discovered a book containing a copy of the Da Xianzhang, a document written by the 37th Earth King Xi of the Tong Dynasty.

Yao didn't like most of the clauses in the Da Xianzhang. These were some of the huge issues that were done by Lord Baojun and repeated by Yao. The document stated things like:

- Every citizen has a right to a free trial

- The king is not allowed to demand money from his nobility

- The temple had the final say on who should be appointed as their officials

- No widow will be forced to remarry

Earth King Yao raised taxes on all his nobles and made them pay a LOT of money. All this money he collected, so he could prepare an army to take over the Gangdise Shan mountain range and the Shang Qiao islands from the Air Nomads. Every time he lost a battle, he needed more money to buy equipment and men. All this money was a waste, as Yao didn't actually win any of the wars and lost most of his land to the Oma Kingdom. Every time he raised taxes, he would times the original amount by 4. For example, if it started at 28 silver pieces, it would then go up to about 110 silver pieces! If the nobles wouldn't pay up, Yao would have the Baojun Yan torture them until they gave everything they had.

The Da Xianzhang was created in 1081 BG, two years into Xi's reign which was a result of the previous ruler Regent Lord Baojun who ruled the Qiangda Kingdom with corrupt motives. He himself enforced and followed the rules set by the document he created and after he abdicated the throne to Regent Lord Qici who ruled until Xi's nephew Qiangda Avanindra became of age.

Prince Shahuang of Qiangda[]

Even if they removed Yao, Shahuang was still the heir to the throne being Yao's firstborn. Rari and Anana interviewed several candidates even the governors of Bai Da and Chengdu who refused to take the throne. Governor Tangchi of Bai Da, suggested them to choose Yao's second-born Wang, who is the complete opposite of Shahuang.

Mercenaries were hired by Rari to kidnap Shahuang into forcing Yao to give up the throne in a ransom for Shahuang's life. In the end, the mercenaries failed but only succeeded in assassinating Shahuang and were killed by the Baojun Yan. Yao was distraught over the death of Shahuang, his son Wang communicated with Rari and Anana and felt no remorse for the death of his older brother. He knew while unfortunate it had to happen for him to take the throne, with the original Da Xianzhang in hand Wang, forced his father to abdicate the throne and unofficially crowning himself the new Earth King.

40th Earth King Wang of Qiangda[]

As a first act, Wang dissolved the Baojun Yan, had his father arrested and imprisoned for breaking the treaties placed by the Xia and Shang kingdoms and for ignoring the Da Xianzhang that prevented an Earth King from being a tyrant. Wang sent word to the four air temples allowing Air Nomads to enter Qiangda Kingdom territory.

Earth King Wang allowed Rari and Panni to live in the Upper Ring forever changing their lives. Rari was made Wang's adviser, Rari studied politics in his early twenties and was prepared for the career of an adviser to a monarch. He shared his love of politics with Wang and helped him make good decisions. Some of the changes that were made in the Qiangda Kingdom, the Air Nomads, were once again allowed to set foot on Qiangda Kingdom soil. The taxes that were once high when Yao was in power had plummeted down to a reasonable level.

The city-state military was no longer abused and now returned to their duties which was to defend the city-state if the walls were breached. Among other things like humanitarian aid if the city-state fell ill of disease. Dead troops, were finally given a respected burial and were no longer cremated. Making the funeral prices affordable to the families of the deceased troops. The taxes would no longer benefit the Earth King but now benefit, veteran soldiers, poor families, and the injured.

The Thirty Year War began during the final years of Wang's reign when Chief Akitla of the North illegally colonized northern Bai Dai province with his people. Bai Da was occupied by the Northern Water Tribe for a minimum about of a fortnight before the combined fleet of Yu and Tuyu provinces dismantled the Northern navy and ground troops from Taiqing and Jiu provinces attacked from the ground. The city was taken back in 779 BG, as a result of this Earth King Wang hired assassins to assassinate Akitla.

From 778 BG to 776 BG, diplomatic meetings were made between Wang and Nanuq, son of Akitla. A negotiation was made and the Northern Water Tribe paid reparations to the Qiangda Kingdom. In 748 BG, however, that all changed. A heated trade war many years later turned into an actual war. The Northern troops attacked the city of Beipan after a nasty trade exchange between merchants that resulted in deaths.

Wang knew he couldn't trust the Northern snowbacks, he thought the war would end before he died but it outlived him. Wang passed away in 742 BG at the age of 166 peacefully in his sleep. His son Ta Po was crowned two weeks later, Ta Po saw the end of the war between the North and his kingdom.

41st Earth King Ta Po of Qiangda[]

Ta Po took the throne as the 41st Earth King at the age of 84. And ruled the Earth Kingdom for 83 years. Being taught to be a great leader, who is cautious about his decisions rather than impulsive like the 39th Earth King his grandfather who was overthrown for being to impulsive.

Ta Po becoming Earth King resulted in weakness due to the fact that because of it, the Earth Kingdom's Thirty Year War took place. Ta Po's Earth Kingdom was fighting against the Chief Aput's, and Chief Nanuq's Water Tribes.

Prince Chung-po of Qiangda[]

The Thirty Year War escalated to a point of no return Ta Po's heir apparent was assassinated by Northern assassins. Chung-po's newborn son was taken to the Fire Nation where he was raised until the war ended.

41st Earth King Ta Po of Qiangda (cont.)[]

Avatar Ku Tei was sent to have peace talks with the tribal chiefs of the Water Tribes, they finally agreed to have a peace treaty signed, and Chief Aput of the Southern Water Tribe decided to the fact that they finally had peace ratted out General Senlin, on giving them battle plans of the Earth Kingdom.

The tribal chiefs decided there would be one last battle before the war ends. The Avatar would face the Traitor. Defeating the traitor was one of the causes that ended the Thirty Year War.

Ta Po was assassinated the day 'The Great Betrayer' General Senlin, had escaped from prison. When night came Senlin and his new ally Haoke snuck into the palace, and the old woman killed the Earth King with a dagger, by slicing his throat open. The next morning the jailor went to cells where Senlin was held and discovered his cell door was destroyed. The jailor notified the guards, and the prison went on high alert.

The Earth King's advisor went to wake up the Earth King, and noticed the guards guarding the door, were dead on the floor, he rushed into the Earth King's chambers, and found the Earth King's body, with a large wound on his neck, and his blankets stained red. The city went a high alert and the Horn of Quietus sounded but Senlin was long gone.

42nd Earth King Qiang Zhen of Qiangda[]

Two weeks later, after the Earth King's death, Ta Po's grandson was crowned the new Earth King. The first six months of Qiang Zhen's reign were hard for the triads of Ba Sing Se, only two of them remained while the Mousha Quan tried to begin again. It was quickly dismantled by the guards over and over again.

There was a double presence of guards around the Lower Ring which left the Middle Ring to fall into more crime rates. Although the crime percentage in the Middle Ring was small there was almost none in the Lower Ring.

Left and right daofei were hunted and imprisoned the very lucky ones were killed, a few others fled to start life anew in another part of the world. Most fled to the Northern Water Tribe others to the Fire Nation. Many also joined the Fifth Nation under Lord Iminaurak.

During this time Senlin wasn't an issue however the guards were underpaid for risking their necks for the crown. Several turned against the king himself a small rebellion thwarted in the Upper Agrarian Zone. In 655 BG - 654 BG these became a problem because some of the guards turned to the side of the daofei and joined a new triad called the Yapo, or the oppressed as they called themselves. While they replaced the Mousha Quan in sense, murder contracts weren't their main focus. Their most important duty was to gain support and admiration from the people of the Lower Ring.

Prince Baotong of Qiangda[]

The news of the Earth Prince reached the ears of Senlin, his next plan was to restart the war. He had Kimaru assassinate the Earth Prince in Kunlun City, Kunlun, where the prince visited to celebrate the new year. The prince was there to spread support for himself and his cousin Qiang Zhen.

The next morning Baotong was found dead in his room, a dagger plunged in his chest, his genitals castrated, a passport and a scroll from Cupun left behind as evidence. When news reached Qiang Zhen it tossed him and his family into disarray, the Horn of Quietus sounded off which scared nobles across the Upper Ring. Many feared the Earth King died, but Guwen settled everyone and told them Baotong was assassinated by the Northern Water Tribe.

Which panicked and angered many because the treaty had been broken, the nobles wanted justice while the rest of the city had mixed reactions. Youlang ran to the temple to check up on his future son-in-law but was relieved when he found out Qiang Zhen was fine. Guwen and the Council of Five handled the next set of steps while Qiang Zhen and the Qiangda family mourned the loss of a relative.

42nd Earth King Qiang Zhen of Qiangda (cont.)[]

Qiang Zhen requested to meet Gao Zu in Ba Sing Se to ask for an alliance between the two Earth Kings. They would unify again to fight the Water Tribes and win the war once and for all. Gao Zu declined going to Ba Sing Se and instead told the young Earth King to meet him in Huang He. Huang He was the capital of the Hammi Tribe in the Si Wong state, thus the Si Wong Sandbenders were neutral even if the Oma Kingdom controlled the state.

He arrived to speak with Gao Zu under the eye of Chief Daj and his daughter Princess Amira, an argument between the two kings led to Gao Zu assaulting Qiang Zhen. A boulder that could've injured the young Earth King was destroyed by his general Qingbao. The sixty-year ceasefire between the Qiangda and Oma Kingdom ended that day, sixty years ago, it was established by Gao Zu and Ta Po to allow Ku Tei to kill Senlin. Since then the ceasefire had not been broken.

Gao Zu ordered Daj to set up blockades near the coast of his state and in three years doubled the soldiers at each border state. He lockdown his country to Qiangda Kingdom citizens and soldiers, all enemies were killed on sight. This severed the trade between both Kingdoms as well which caused a loss in trade revenues of both countries, Dahongpao which constantly transported citizens across both kingdoms ceased operation with the enemy kingdom. Cha Lundu the governor of Wuyi set a blockade on her side of Chuan Bay to prevent enemy ships from entering the Oma Kingdom.

The assassinations committed by Senlin and his allies escalated the tensions between the Qiangda Kingdom and the Northern Water Tribe. While treachery occurred in the North, the Qiangda Kingdom was being invaded by Palartok's loyalists under the guise of northern troops. Which wiped out a defense troop of fifty soldiers and killed everyone in a village near the coast of Hankou province.

Thod and Iglaak were arrested on espionage and plotting against the kingdom by Guwen, Qiang Zhen requested negotiations with Cupun in the Baiyan Air Temple with R'Kang and the Northern Council of Elders as the mediators of the diplomatic meeting. The release of northern diplomats back to their chief at the temple received backlash from the chief.

Which intensified the debate between both world leaders Qiang Zhen declined peace with the Northern Tribesmen, peace wouldn't repay the blood price of fifty soldiers and the prince. He threatened Cupun and declared war on the north.
