The Prologue is an introduction to Book One: Metal of the Hikar's Spiritual Chronicles fan-series, and the first overall installment in the series. It was originally released in the first part of the now three parter "New Cycle" pilot of the series, then made into its own episode in Webtoon.
Foreword[]
It features the following foreword in the script:
| "First, I want to thank Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino for the great work they did writing Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra, as well as the great animators and staff at Nickelodeon and Studio MIR. Maybe they'll see this, maybe not, or maybe they might as well ignore this story, I don't know. When I started writing this fan story, I wasn't going to give it much effort, but something made me put a lot of work, rewrite three times, and take my time on the first book. The story starts taking place in Yetai Tong, an old Mining village, and the year is, for starters 244 AG. But the main plot happens in Republic City and the Central Westerns Earth Kingdom. Now, without further ado, I hope you enjoy this story." |

Narration[]
Iruka narrates the prologue like this:
"Fire. Air. Water. Earth. Sixty years have passed since my mother, Avatar Korra, defeated Kuvira and dissolved the Earth Empire. Right after that, Earth King Wu, stepped down from the monarchy, becoming the last Earth King in history till this day. Turning the Earth Kingdom territory into various independent republics that formed a new, stronger nation: the Earth Confederation. Ending the Equalist Revolution, reuniting the Spirit and Physical Worlds, bringing back the Air Nation together, and opening a new portal in the middle of Republic City. Avatar Korra, with the help of her friends, did so many achievements probably no other Avatar could have done in years. But sadly, Korra was still a human being, and just like any other of her kind, her time in this world came to an end. And that way, just like the cycle of the seasons, the New Avatar Cycle continued again."
Rating[]
Released in January 24th of 2019 in Webtoon, over the course of 10 months managed to give the comic an overall score of 9/10 and garner around 350 reads and 27 subscribers, until Episode 1 was released in November 24th of the same year.
Trivia[]
- Originally there wasn't a prologue, since it's basically just the opening credits in Hikar's version. As the series shifted into webcomic/webtoon format, it was changed, and created to fit a prologue.
- The foreword can only be seen in Wattpad as part of the script.
- The first background features the original backgrounds from the show but toned green in the elemental sequence at the start.
- Unlike the other two opening sequences, this one features just one person bending the elements: Avatar Hikar Firestone. It's his first appearance in the overall series, while being just his silhouette and having no lines, and he's the only new original character to appear, since the rest of characters who actually appear are canonical characters and events who appeared and took place over the course of Legend of Korra.
- Compared to the other two opening sequences:
- This is the first one to have the Airbender have both of the feet down while Airbending, while still being done by a man.
- The last element performed is still the native element of the Avatar.
- It's the only opening sequence to have just one single person perform all the bending art by themselves.
- Hikar's movements are based on canonical bending movements, referenced from artwork by Ollie Mori, some of them are repeated in the series:
- His firebending move is similar to the one Aang did against Ozai's personal airship in "Sozin's Comet, Part 3: Into the Inferno". However, unlike in the series' moment, here it's not enhanced by the comet. The pose was referenced from this artwork.
- His airbending move is similar to the "Air Dance" Korra and Opal perform in "The Metal Clan". The pose was referenced from this artwork.
- His waterbending move is similar to the one Katara used against the Dai Li in the moat in "The Earth King". The pose was loosely referenced from this artwork.
