| "I don't care what you say, Kia. Neither Bumi nor Kya had any right to dump all their frustrations on you. You are not Aang, and Aang is not you" |
| — Ping comforting his wife |
Ping is the husband of Kiallera and the father of their four children: Yelihn, Khiyanneh, Zara, and Rillue. A protective father, he cares deeply for his family, though at times feels exasperated by the airbending abilities of his mischievous children. He is an earthbending Air Acolyte who lives with his family on Air Temple Island and as the father of the new generation of airbenders, he has gained fame among the Air Acolytes. A master earthbender, second only to Toph Beifong, Ping was the son-in-law of Aang and Katara, and the brother-in-law of Bumi and Kya II.
Just like his element, Ping was firm, stubborn, and protective, and did not tolerate any of Bumi and Kya's nonsense. He was also the one to call them, and Katara, out on their mistreatment of Kiallera and pointed out that they already lost Aang; "Do you want to lose a daughter and sister as well?".
Thanks to him, Kiallera was able to finally begin healing from her mother's neglect.
Background[]
Ping was born to two unknown earthbenders in Republic City. He was a student of Toph Beifong and trained under her to master earthbending, metalbending, and seismic sense. It was under Toph's tutelage that Ping discovered that he also had a talent for lavabending and sandbending.
At some unknown point, Ping met Kiallera, the youngest daughter of Aang and Katara and fell in love with her. They eventually began dating, with the relationship blooming into love. After marrying, Ping and Kia raised a family of three children: Yelihn, Khiyanneh, and Zara, with a fourth one on the way.
170 AG[]
When Ping traveled to the South Pole with her family to see Katara and Avatar Korra, he expressed his frustration to his mother-in-law about having only airbending children, as well as his desire for their fourth child to be an earthbender.
Later, Korra journeyed to Ping's family's home and stayed with them for several months in order to complete her airbending and earthbending training. The impetuous teenager turned Ping's quiet life upside down.
