"Even in death, my rebellion will always live on."
— Onsungi just before she fights Azula

Onsungi is a master of Earthbending, leader of the Omashu Rebels, and a very brave and tough woman. She was killed by Fire Lord Azula during the Recapture of Omashu.

History[]

Background[]

Little is known about Onsungi's background, other than she was born to a poor family of rebels during The War. She was part of the Omashu resistance after Bumi surrendered to the Fire Nation. She later escaped with all the other citizens, though she decided to start a rebellion of men and women, getting ready to reconquer Omashu. Onsungi marched her men to Omashu, but she soon saw that Bumi already liberated Omashu. She expected another battle to occur there, however, so she continued training her men and herself in preparation of that day.

Recapture[]

Onsungi was one of the few commanders who did not die after the Omashu Royal Palace was destroyed by a falling airship. As the Fire Nation troops landed their airships, Onsungi took her rebels and snuck past the city's outer limits, reaching an uninhabited airship. Onsungi, realizing that they could still win by crashing the airship into the soldiers, ordered her men to do so despite the fact it would kill them all.

Duel with Azula and Death[]

As Onsungi prepared to win the battle, she spotted a pursuing Azula rocketing through the air. Azula challenged Onsungi to a duel, to which she accepted. The two fought viciously, but Azula gained the upper hand with ease, and eventually won the duel by zapping Onsungi's chest with lightning, killing Onsungi and winning the battle for her nation.
