Nefer II is the current Princess of the Kefu Dynasty. Nefer II is a minor character in the fanon Avatar: Civil Strife.

History[]

Nefer the Second was born in the winter of 1931 BG to Queen Consort Asenath and Pharaoh Shabaka. She was the second-born child of the royal couple and their first daughter. Previously, the couple had trouble with children, but now they were blessed with two so far. In her early life, she failed tests to prove she was a sandbender. Nefer II was then identified as a non-bender. She spent her childhood almost as an only child, as her brother was separated from her because he was the crown prince. By age 9, her parents had their third and final child, Zaphnath. She helped raise him and grew up with the energetic child.

At the age of 14, Nefer openly came out to her parents as a lesbian and has since then been in a partnership with her girlfriend, Hesira. With how Empire laws work, openly gay couples are unharmed, unlike their enemies, the Haijunese, who've banned same-sex individuals. While private, they're publicly recognized as a couple, and the empire treats them as a royal couple.

Union of Two Bloods[]

Nefer II, a princess of the Isoro Empire and the daughter of the reigning Pharaoh, is characterized by a confident, informal demeanor in court settings. Contemporary accounts describe her as maintaining a balance between adherence to protocol and deliberate disregard for restrictive court customs, particularly in private or semi-public contexts. Her manner of dress and presentation reflect both noble lineage and personal preference, incorporating traditional symbols of status alongside relaxed styling.

Before the wedding ceremony of Chu Zi, Nefer engaged directly with Chu Zi in a non-ceremonial capacity. She initiated and supervised an excursion into Upper Bekini, an urban district outside the palace complex, asserting her authority to override customary restrictions on royal movement. The outing was conducted without a formal guard presence and was framed by Nefer as an opportunity for Chu Zi to experience the city beyond palace protocol.

Nefer was accompanied during this period by Hesira, identified publicly as her companion and privately as her romantic partner. Nefer did not conceal this relationship in civilian districts, where same-sex relationships were socially accepted. Her conduct contrasted with prevailing norms within court life, where such relationships were typically unacknowledged. Observers noted that Nefer treated the relationship as ordinary and unremarkable, indicating a personal rejection of courtly discretion regarding intimacy.

Throughout her interactions with Chu Zi, Nefer demonstrated awareness of the political nature of the impending marriage and its implications for personal autonomy. She openly discussed the constraints imposed by dynastic alliances and presented court ceremony as performative rather than personally defining. Despite this, she remained actively involved in ensuring Chu Zi’s preparation for the ceremony, including overseeing attire, attendants, and adherence to ritual timing once palace proceedings resumed.

Nefer’s behavior during this period reflects her broader reputation within the Isoro court as an individual who fulfills ceremonial obligations while informally challenging the social expectations attached to royal status. Her conduct illustrates a pattern of selective compliance with tradition, shaped by personal values rather than institutional loyalty.

Abilities[]

Nefer was born a non-bender, but has no weapon skills. She, however, takes an interest in the languages of the world. She can speak the Air Nomadic language, and speaks several Kingsmen dialects, including Oma, Junggarian, Hami, Alxa, and Gaxunese.
