| "Some of us don't get to die of old age Kwan Chun, we understand that self-sacrifice is a difficult job. Your patriotism to your people and your dedication to the four nations rings true, I know that you've strived and struggled to live day to day it only makes you human. You may have disappeared for a time but you can still show the world how much you love them. I can sense the presence of Tiandi himself, Kwan Chun. It is time, your destiny is now, remember the lessons from the past. Do what many of your past lives have done, I would do the same if it meant that it would save my people." |

Mun Jin is the Air Nomad Avatar succeeding Avatar Kaenakai, and preceding before Avatar Arrluk. Mun Jin is also the Air Nomad Avatar before, Avatar Kwan Chun. Mun Jin, appears in the fanon Avatar: The Legacy of Rong Yan.
History[]
Early Life[]
Mun Jin was born in the Shang Qiao Air Temple in 1381 BG, and then transferred to the Baiyan Air Temple in 1376 BG at the age of five. The boy is tested by the Council of Elders of the north and is identified as Avatar Kaenakai's successor.
When this is learned they appoint Master-Novice Rama as his guardian and airbending master. Mun Jin spends the next several years of his life mastering airbending. Receiving his tattoos at the age of 19 in 1362 BG. Normally an Air Nomad Avatar must become master at the age of 16 but that didn't matter to Rama or the Council of Elders.
Exiling the Avatar[]
In 1362 BG, Mun Jin was instead exiled from the Northern Air Temple, a group of monks who were jealous of Mun Jin's status. Poisoned three of the five elders from the council which ended up killing them and they planted evidence to indicate the Mun Jin was the culprit behind this.
The investigations that followed found that Mun Jin was guilty of his crimes and because of this he was exiled from his home. The last two remaining councilmen couldn't imprison him from the world or his destiny. He could no longer return there for the rest of his life. His own guardian condemned his actions as well he too believed Mun Jin did this vile act.
He traveled to the Si Wong desert where soon got lost and instead found himself on the Si Wong rock in the middle of the desert. His bison died of dehydration, he was down on his luck as if the gods themselves abandoned him.
Mun Jin dehydrated as well he was later rescued by the Junggar Tribe and taken to Altai where he spent a few weeks with his rescuers. He journeyed alone into the desert with a sand sail he borrowed from his rescuers. He later found Wan Shi Tong's Library, he thought this to be a hallucination but it turned out to be real.
When he met the owl spirit, the spirit took kindly to the Avatar sensing betrayal had filled his emotions as if he was betrayed. Wan Shi Tong spoke to Mun Jin and the young Avatar retold his tale to the knowledge spirit. In the end, Wan Shi Tong offered to train the young Avatar and all the bending arts, he told Mun Jin he could sense a great evil coming and said that Mun Jin must be powerful enough to defeat it.
Mun Jin trained with Wan Shi Tong the knowledge spirit for several decades, at the age of 27, he became a fully-realized Avatar. He mastered every bending form known in history, Wan Shi Tong failed to teach Mun Jin to fly, however. He told him the Avatar could never master flight because the Avatar belonged to all four nations. The world had no Avatar or so they thought, the world during Mun Jin's lifetime was very peaceful. Tiandi the All-High granted Mun Jin with the power of flight.
Spirit War[]
Bei'an, the god of darkness consumed the goddess of light, Liang and became one. They become a more evil entity known as Fan Shen. Bei'an wants to take the throne from Tiandi on the back of Jianhuren the Lion Turtle from which Tiandi and the other gods are said to live on.
Bei'an's goal was to usurp Tiandi and kill his own father, Bei'an further corrupted the souls of spirits. Each of them joining his side while there is good there must always be chaos. Bei'an planned to release his son Vaatu from the Tree of Time as well. But was thwarted by Mun Jin.
Tiandi allowed his children to give some of their powers to the Avatar possessing his body and making him stronger. Mun Jin received power from the god of war Senso, then from Yama the god of death, La goddess of the ocean and wisdom, and then Sasya god of harvest and justice. Tiandi blessed Mun Jin with the power of flight. Which allowed Mun Jin to move around freely as he battled Fan Shen.
Fan Shen and Avatar Mun Jin clashed in the Spirit World, Tiandi sent his empowered Avatar to destroy Fan Shen and separate Bei'an from Liang. When Fan Shen was defeated he was split back into two Bei'an and Liang. With the help of Liang, Mun Jin, imprisoned Bei'an in a prison he would never escape from, Sasya placed a lesser spiritual Avatar of him as jailor of Bei'an. While the manifestation of Sasya was a lesser form it was still far more powerful than Bei'an. But Mun Jin also learned something there must always be chaos where there is good.
Later Life[]
Avatar Mun Jin spent the rest of his days defeating evil across the planet while learning new things from his master, Wan Shi Tong. While he never returned to the Baiyan Air Temple, he was forgiven by the new council and they titled him the Saint of Knowledge.
He also spent a ton of his days in the Spirit World meeting all the past Avatars, gathering all the knowledge he could of them. After he died he was worshipped along with the many saints the Air Nomads had. His heirlooms were never found his remains were cremated and kept in an urn in Wan Shi Tong's Library. His heirlooms are also in the same chambers where his remains are placed in. Avatar Mun Jin's spirit roams around the Spirit World and Wan Shi Tong's library.
Abilities[]
Avatar Mun Jin mastered all bending forms through Wan Shi Tong, the Spirit of Knowledge. While he did master airbending through human knowledge it was later improved by the owl spirit. Mun Jin was the only Avatar to master all the bending forms, and he had his own unique style of each form.
Airbending[]
Mun Jin's bending master was named Rama, he was the guardian of the Avatar as well he helped Mun Jin master airbending. Mun Jin received his tattoos at 19, eventually, later Wan Shi Tong helped Mun Jin improve his airbending.
Soundbending[]
Soundbending was frowned upon by all the Air Nomads as the two schools of calamity and subtlety were seen as evil. A lot of soundbenders were exiled from the air temples for learning an evil art. This caused soundbenders to create their own community where they freely soundbended in secret.

With the help of the knowledge spirit, Mun Jin was able to master spiritual projection the correct way. Mun Jin communed with spirits and lived with them as well his level of spirituality was extremely high.

Tiandi blessed Mun Jin with the power of flight. Which allowed Mun Jin to move around freely as he battled Fan Shen.

Though it seemed like more and more came, Avatar Mun Jin pulled Kwan Chun into his inner-self while another past life controlled Kwan Chun's physical body. Mun Jin told him he would do anything within his ultimate power to end the war and bring and balance to the world, even if he must sacrifice himself to see if that will end the war.
After fighting for another hour, he exited the Avatar State and went on his knees and hands. Then a soldier with a large battle-ax came by and decapitated Kwan Chun. He had sacrificed himself for the good of his people. A squadron of soldiers fled from the battle scene Kwan Chun ultimately won the battle but sacrificed himself in the end. Aki arrived to lead him into the Spirit World.
Avatar Rong Yan's Life[]
In Chapter 15, Rong Yan failed to contact Mun Jin, as Mun Jin would be the only one able to grant him spiritual projection. Instead, Xi Tong appeared and told Rong Yan that his spirituality levels were too weak.
In Chapter 17, with the use of Aumanil's bloodbending, the spiritual blockage that corrupted Rong Yan's soul was removed. Which allowed him to project his spirit and removed the polar bending weakness from him permitting to master waterbending faster. He contacted Mun Jin again and succeeded this time around. His past life told him that the fear and immaturity he contains in his life will corrupt him. Telling Rong Yan, that if he got rid of this it would help him become the powerful Avatar he was meant to be.
Avatar Korra's Life[]
During the time when Avatar Korra, had lost her bending to Amon, she had returned to the Southern Water Tribe or the compound she first was in, where Katara, had tried her best to heal Korra.
To no avail, Korra had left to cry at a snowy cliff, where she thought that Tenzin had approached her. When in fact it was Avatar Aang. She stood up, as Aang was conversing with her, and then all of Korra's past lives appeared.
Mun Jin was the Air Avatar, that stood behind Avatar Kuruk, in between Xi Tong and Avatar Kaenakai to his right.
