Malina is a Waterbending who formally lived in the Northern Water Tribe and Earth Kingdom, and currently resides in Republic City. She was born in 194 AG to a water bending family in the Northern Water tribe with her five older sisters. Growing up, she never felt valued and left to be a criminal.

Malina was born in 194 AG to a water bending couple who already had five older sisters. Growing up, she was overshadowed by her sisters. When she was 17, she left her family to be a criminal as she never felt loved. She met Saniful and later met Aiya and Yua. When she was 21, she met Avatar Zhengyi and his twin sister Jiu. She trained Zhengyi as his water bending teacher. She like teaching him as he was a "very good student". She started her relationship in Saniful.

Malina is a very skilled Waterbending and healer. She uses many skills to her advantage to win. However, Bloodbending is something she has never considered due to the fact that she didn't want that much power.
