Lin Xi Chao is a mercenary under the employ of Gan; also living life making music as a traveling bard. He's a minor character in Avatar: Civil Strife.
History[]
Little is known about Lin Xi, he spent most of his years learning to wield different weapons while working as a mercenary. Calling himself a self-proclaimed weaponmaster. He's known to be able to use anything he can get his hands on efficiently, making him deadly. During his off-time in between mercenary work he travels the Haijun and Oma Kingdoms as a traveling minstrel. Playing at inns, or taverns for a warm belly of beer, a bedwarmer, and a few coin.
Assassinating a Governor[]
Knowing Gan's skills Brigadier-General Yun requested that he pick four other individuals and assemble a team to infiltrate the city of Guandi and assassinate Governor Luyou Bei. Giving Gan four hours before he assaulted the capital with the army camped in the mountains. Gan chose four team members, Fen Mo Fu, Suo Pi Dao, Bian Nu Xing, and Chao Lin Xi. Each of the four had a unique skill set that would help him accomplish his mission.
His objective along with Lin Xi was to infiltrate the siheyuan of Governor Luyou disguised as a Yanzhao agent meeting him on behalf of the Earth King and Spymaster. Along with Lin Xi who only served as minstrel he hired since he knew the governor loved music. He met with Mo Fu and Pi Dao at the service entrance and gave them a map of the main house of the estate, something Mo Fu had to do while Gan and Lin Xi distracted the governor. The meeting involved an operation following a lead from an anonymous tip that a cult of daozhi were hiding somewhere in the Guandi mountains just north of the city.
The meeting was interrupted after thirty minutes, when a guard came to escort Luyou to the infirmary after his steward Lao Piao was found severely injured at the House of Ravishing Flowers. An expression of anger that he had for Nu Xing for allowing her emotions to jeopardize the mission. Mo Fu and the thief came for Gan and the bard, escaping from the estate.
Nu Xing lighting the main wick with firebending began the timer for them to leave. After they escaped via carriage, and passed the House of Ravishing Flowers; the governor's estate blew up which alerted the watchtowers and placed the city on lockdown. After the four hours were up, Yun attacked the city in the wee hours of the evening leading to the city surrendering after losing their entire chain of command in the explosion.
Abilities[]
Lin Xi Chao was born a non-bender but his years in mercenary work gave him the experience to be proficient in several forms of the weapon arts. Making him a deadly opponent even if he wielded a farming hoe. Lin Xi is also a talented musician with experience in playing a pipa, learning songs from across both Kingdoms. He's traveled to many provinces across both Kingdoms making good coin, and getting wasted on cheap alcohol.
