Laozhang is a minor character in the fanon Avatar: The Legacy of Rong Yan. He's the new Royal Guard Captain of Qiang Zhen who replaced Captain Wei after his death.

History[]

Laozhang was once a pirate back in his younger days, as the new first mate of Captain Mengshi. He was caught in a small war where the Fifth Nation claimed they'd sink any who wasn't their own. Laozhang convinced a captain of the Fifth Nation and told them they were a part of the Fifth Nation when they laid siege on a Qiangdian military outpost.

When the Fifth Nation captain and his crew had their guard down, Laozhang and the independent pirate crew slaughtered the Fifth Nation crew. After his life of piracy, Laozhang was pardoned for his life of crime and lost his pinky finger in the process.

Over the years, he climbed the ranks of the city guard, got married and had a son. Soon after the death of Wei was announced to Qiang Zhen he was chosen by the Earth King as Wei's successor. He opiniated to the Earth King about Yumen not being unstable when Qiang Zhen was brought to the attention of what occurred in the city of Yumen. He mentioned his son was in the city a month prior to its destruction, and his son never noticed anything strange.

Laozhang accompanied Qiang Zhen and Yi'an to a town in the Agrarian Zone called, Hulan. Qiang Zhen was there for officiating the town into the census. Laozhang has proven to be disciplined and strict with the royal guards, that they've been in order. He's lived up to and surpassed the standard Wei once had in place.
