"Lucky" Laobing is a minor character in the fanon, Avatar: The Legacy of Rong Yan. Laobing is Captain Wei's grandfather.
History[]
Laobing, along with Senlin and Private First-Class Ku Tei were sent to liberate Jun Lao. They were carted through Jiu province north to reach Bai Da where they would meet the battalion. The cart was full of the rest of the battalion.
Laobing's first victory was in Jun Lao along with his comrade Senlin. But Laobing saved Senlin's life after he injured his arm. The lesser chief in control of Jun Lao was killed in battle which ended the siege.
When the city of Beipan was taken back by Qiangdian forces, Laobing was appointed the unofficial governor of Tuo province until a replacement was found. Later that became Governor Ling Cho, the second son of Lord Cho from East Hu Xin in Garsai.
Throughout the years that Ku Tei traveled the world and mastered the elements. Laobing continued to win more battles across the kingdom and won himself titles and reputation. Laobing was given the nickname "Lucky" when he's saved several men in battles in the most unbelievable ways.
Laobing is known as a great storyteller because of this and sometimes the recruits thought he was full of boar ox excrement. From then on, everyone called him "Lucky" Laobing, after the war ended, he retired from the army and went into retirement. "Lucky" Laobing later appears in Avatar: The Legacy of Rong Yan, after receiving a letter report from Shang Jin that Captain Wei was killed by General Senlin.
Laobing and the Terra Team[]
Laobing requested the Earth King to lend him a Terra Team to hunt down Senlin. With Dimian's help, Laobing was able to track down Senlin all the way to Dahongpao where Senlin took a ship. Their investigation died out there however because Cha Lundu refused to help them.
The newest recruit leered at the governor and slept with her which resulted in Cha Lundu assisting the men out with their investigation. Three years later, the search led to more dead ends. In the end, they gave up their search for the traitor general and have moved on from their failures.
Council of Five[]
After the aftermath of Yumen and the death of General Tsuyo-sa, King Qiang Zhen needed to think of a successor worthy of taking Tsuyo-sa's place. Despite the failure of finding Senlin in the Oma Kingdom, Laobing and the Terra Team was stumped in Dahongpao in Wuyi province. Laobing felt undeserving of the position, however, Qiang Zhen felt Laobing is a living asset to defeating Senlin and promoted him to General rank.
Abilities[]
Laobing was born an earthbender and mastered the art while training in Ba Sing Se when he was a young man. His father trained him in blunt fighting, where he is now a master with the weapon type. He uses his stone mallets to enhance his earthbending.
