History[]
Early Life[]
Long before there was an Avatar, there had lived an ancient tribe of lifebenders. These benders were far more advanced than any before and as a result had access to secret knowledge. Living among this tribe was a family that had recently given birth to a healthy child. They had decided to name him Kutonga. A strong name for a strong child. Kutonga was believed to have been born as a non-bender. The life benders had looked down on this because in their society if you can't bend you have no use. The father realized that without another lifebender, there would no one to carry on the line in their family and believed his son was disgracing him and his honor. He frequently ignored the poor boy and Kutonga was constantly picked on or beat up. This attitude eventually increased when it was revealed that a child with no bending within their village would be able to do the seemingly unthinkable: to bend more than one element. Kutonga's father knew this would never be his son and as a result treat his son even harsher. This led Kutonga to believe his father didn't care about him at all.
Upon reaching the age of 9, Kutonga had been contemplating his life and what it was he was meant to do. He had wondered if all people were as cruel and unforgiving as his and if any should receive any redemption. Suddenly, he felt very powerful and strong, as though some inexplicable force had helped him reach his new purpose in life. It was eventually revealed that Raava had merged with him and decided to help him on his path to try and better humanity. She had heard many of his questions and thought that he would be perfect to restore balance to the future world. Ever since, Kutonga had started training above and beyond in order to achieve this power. He had trained his body until he physically could not move, then trained his mind and spirit until he recovered. This had severely distressed his mother and she begun to worry for his mental and physical state. One day while training, a few boys had come and started to pick on Kutonga. Eventually, he had enough and decided to punish them himself. He begun to suffocate them within an air pocket. Realizing how dangerous Kutonga was, and humanity's seemingly unending cruelty, she removed herself from the boy. What she hadn't known was that she didn't shutdown any of his chakras or spiritual energy. So while Kutonga was no longer the avatar, and would not be reborn when he died, he still had all the powers of the avatar.
Upon hearing the news earlier that day, the father realized what he needed to do in order to protect his family. The father had come and started to attack his son and when Kutonga saw his mother doing nothing he finally snapped. This is what allowed him to unlock this state. He raised his body temperature so much that the touch of his skin burned his father. Kutonga tired of being helpless and alone all his life decided to teach the world a lesson. He had begun draining the life energy of his father reducing him to a pile of bones which crumbled to dust. His mother, horrified at what he had done called him a monster. He then turned to his mother and done the same. He had taken the forbidden scrolls and eventually, the only thing that remained of the life benders, was his burned down village. He had soon conquered a nearby kingdom where he ruled for 30,000 years.

During Kutonga's rule, he had met the first avatar, Wan. Wan had offered to find a peaceful exchange between the two of them. While Kutonga had considered it, he had reached for Wan desperate for a new start and happiness. However, he had refused and kept his reasoning that the only way to live life is through strength alone, and refused. A fight broke out between the two and before long Wan had trapped Kutonga in a prison. Ever since Kutonga had made an oath on that he would personally find and kill every incarnation of the Avatar that exists. Once he had escaped, he began to search the world for Wan again. After asking many countless people, he learned that Wan died from old age. This enraged Kutonga who wanted to kill Wan himself.

Personality[]
Kutonga as a child started of as a rather shy and very insecure boy. He had no friends and was constantly picked on or abused at home for his inability. As a result, he was a very quiet child and isolated himself from everyone. The only comfort that he found was in himself. When the prophecy stated of him bending, he had grown more confident and did everything he could to make everyone proud of him. He had wanted his father's recognition the most and mostly practiced when he was around. As a result, he was easily offended and react extremely violently when nothing had happened. Eventually, after he had snapped, he was a completely different person. He turned into a cold, calculating, selfish and heartless monster. He cared very little about others viewed them as inferior and expendable. He had lost his previous nature and prefers to take care of those he views as enemies in private. He has little to no honor as he viewed that it was his father's honor and cruelty that ruined his life.
He has also shown a sadistic side which he is not afraid to hide. He knows that the Avatar can only be destroyed when they are in the state. As a result he intentionally, refuses to kill them there as it would ruin his "fun". He has shown very little regret or remorse for his actions and does not want to share power with anyone. He is extremely manipulative and will manipulate others without hesitation in order to get what he wants. Kutonga is also able to twist the words of others when making deals stating that they never mentioned certain arrangements with him. He has the uncanny ability to seemingly read people like a book. As a result Kutonga is able to think several steps ahead and use his enemies emotions against them. He does not react to threats and has a calm demeanor no matter the situation. This makes him seemingly impossible to read and immune to any earth bender's seismic sense. However, when he starts losing or his plan goes unexpectedly, he begins to lose this demeanor and shows his true self.
His true self is that of a completely insane, deranged, and power hungry madman willing to do anything to accomplish his goals. He has very little qualms or morals and does not care who he hurts, if it is an ally or enemy. His harsh upbringing shows that he cares little for the aspects of love and friendship. He does not seek companionship or care about it. He believes that the only thing that truly matters in the world is strength. There is no room for who he views as "weak" and prefers survival of the fittest. This can be considered his one fatal flaw. He naturally believes that strength will overcome any adversity and nothing can stop it. However, the one thing that he didn't account for was his enemies ability to love, sympathize and feel for each other, something he could never do.
Abilities[]
Bending[]
As the avatar, Kutonga has the ability to master all four elements to their fullest extent. While he was considered a non-bender at birth, Raava had fused with the boy giving him all the powers of the Avatar, and possibly more. This led him to becoming one of the most powerful benders in the world, if not the most powerful. As a result his bending seems to be a permanent part of his physiology, and can't be removed.
Waterbending[]
Kutonga is a very skilled and powerful waterbender, maybe more than Katara or Korra combined. He has immense control over water and with centuries of training, he has done things that many have declared forbidden or impossible. He has been shown to mix and combine different waterbending techniques and movements making him one of the most dangerous and unpredictable waterbenders to date. He has been known to create water from the air and from the moisture in the breath of others, or freeze their blood instantly.
Bloodbending[]
Kutonga has shown a very high level of skill and expertise in bloodbending. He has the ability to physically bloodbend without a full moon much like Yakone. He can do this with multiple people and is able to do so easily.
Healing[]
He has an immense knowledge of healing and can heal both internal and external injuries. He generally uses the water he generates himself and imbues it with more energy than normal. This allows him to heal almost instantly when placed for a few seconds, this includes injuries that would normally be fatal.
Airbending[]
Since Lifebenders respected life as much as the Airbenders, maybe more, this was one of the easiest elements for Kutonga to master. He had used what he learned from his tribe as well as others, to become an extremely powerful airbender. This includes making tornadoes, or vortexes with little difficulty.
Flight[]
Kutonga had very little possessions to let go or attachment to be free from. As a result, the ability to fly came as almost second nature to the bender.
Earthbending[]
Kutonga is a very skilled earthbender, being able to create certain constructs with extremely simple movements. He shown great mastery over it, being able to outmatch both Toph and Bumi at the same time. His mastery is advanced enough that he is even able to bend sand, and turn it into glass.
Lavabending[]
He has also shown the similar effects with lavabending. He is able to create lava streams simply by punching the ground and creating a crevice where it would come from. He is capable of cooling the lava as well and does so very fast.
Metalbending[]
Kutonga learned metal bending almost instantly and could change the form of it on a simple whim. He showed great skill and growth the longer he practiced, and soon could bend massive structures made from metal.
Firebending[]
Kutonga learned firebending seemingly instantly and his power only grew the more he did it. His skill was to the point where he outmatched Azula Iroh, Zuko, and even Ozai. He had practiced to the point where his fire was light blue, almost cyan in color. The flames were impressive and it only continued to grow, even without Sozin's Comet
Lighting Generation[]
Kutonga has very little remorse or regret for his actions, and as a result has a very clear mind that is at peace. He is able to fire multiple lightning bolts in a row after a simple breath. The bolts themselves miles long and spread out in multiple directions.
Lightning Redirection[]
Kutonga is able to not only create such lighting, but redirect it at the same time. He can fire a continuous bolt of lightning while directing another shot at him.
Energybending[]
Kutonga, Korra and Aang are the only avatars that have the ability to take away bending from others or return it to others by manipulating the energy from their body.
Spiritbending[]
Kutonga is a very skilled spirit bender and much like Unalaq can manipulate spirits and transform them into dark ones. He has also shown the ability to fix the spirits damage or destroy another person's soul.
Lifebending[]
Kutonga is a very adept and skilled life bender being able to not only give life but take it away from others. He is also able to manipulate life energy taken from others and allow himself to live longer than one would anticipate. However, when it is running out, he begins to age and needs to find another person to absorb their energy and replenish his. When this is done to another avatar, he takes their spiritual energy and power, which increases his own.
Matterbending[]
A bending technique that Kutonga made himself, it allows him to manipulate a certain element and change it to a different one. He is able to change an element almost instantly when using this either making it safer, or a desired element which he then uses himself. He has been shown to use this ability to restore any limbs that he lost.
Mindbending[]
Another technique that he made, it is similar to bloodbending with a few bonuses. He can cause head splitting pain which renders the target immobile from it, speak to others through this ability, and even control their minds. He is also able to make the target relive their worst memories or experiences through eye contact, or physical contact. Prolonged exposure to this ability eventually leads to short term memory loss for the target.

Kutonga: "You should be afraid of me young Avatar. Why do you think I'm the only one still alive, yet all of the other avatars are dead?"

You think they give you strength when in real life, they prevent you from who you could be, and force you to be something else. Appearance[]
Kutonga is a young looking man with an average, muscular build. He has Caucasian skin and dark brown hair. He has hazel grey eyes. He generally wears a black tunic and pants, similar to a karate uniform, with a gold lapel, cuffs and a tie-on red belt. The belt generally reaches down to his knee cap. When in prison he wears a typical uniform and is generally shown in a platinum prison cell, chained to the floor. When accessing the Avatar state, his eyes glow purple, rather than white, his voice becomes deeper and a red aura surrounds his body.
