Iminaurak, Pirate Lord of the Fifth Nation, the founder of the Fifth Nation pirate fleet and a minor character in Avatar: The Legacy of Rong Yan.
History[]
Historical records of the Fifth Nation have written that Iminaurak was exiled from the Southern Water Tribe in 738 BG, for treason and stealing from the armory. Refusing to fight in the Thirty Year War, when Southern law states one man from each family must fight in the war. Refusing to report to the barracks for recruitment resulted in his exile of the tribe. Forced to brave the wilderness of the South Pole eventually forming a group of exiled Southern citizens and stealing a boat they sailed through the Tagiuk and South Oceans taking over ships as self-proclaimed pirates.
Their infamy grew as they continued to capture enemy ships over the years, pillaging and killing off victims while capturing women and children and forcing them into a life of slavery. More pirates from around the world wanted to join his cause, deep into the Thirty Year War when the Water Tribes and the Qiangda Kingdom were plunged into war and finally the Oma Kingdom joined the war unifying the Earth Kingdom to defeat the Water Tribe, with the kingdoms distracted Iminaurak took advantage of this and stole iron ships from the province of Huai in the eastern Oma Kingdom.
Controlling the southern coast of the Oma Kingdom where coal was being mined to power the ships of the Oma Kingdom navy, cutting the Oma Kingdom from a valuable resource. Their popularity skyrocketed in 724 BG, that they no longer carried a restriction in the Fifth Nation allowing pirates from the Earth Kingdoms and the Fire Nation to join their ranks.
Eventually, this event and a number of other events were the cause for the result of King Gao Zu pulling his armies from the Thirty Year War in 723 BG, abandoning the Qiangda Kingdom to fend for themselves. Gao Zu found them to be a plague upon his southern kingdom. Conquering small villages on the coast and enslaving his people, he allowed them to remain through a peace treaty so long as they pay taxes.
Iminaurak disliked this but he couldn't allow King Zu's armies to wipe out his small fleet, no as a smart diplomatic move he agreed to the terms of the peace treaty. Clever as Iminaurak was he waited until his fleet continued to grow once this happened he tore the treaty and began occupying southern land. When Gao Zu learned about this he declared war on the Fifth Nation, many casualties were lost on Iminaurak's side, he and several others fleeing to the waters of the South Pole where they learned a small island region on the tip of the eastern area of the South Pole.
Conquering Kauk[]
Iminaurak commanded the conquer and control of the island region of Kauk belonging to the Southern Water Tribe. In 674 BG, his forces invaded the island while others created a blockade preventing enemy ships from entering or leaving the Ilari Bay unless they were to go through the Anmaak Strait.
Taking the first settlement of Kauk called, Ikaluk village within a day or two, they settled for about a week before planning on taking the bigger settlement of Kauk, Satkut. After a week of deaths from both sides the Fifth Nation conquered the island region of Kauk basing their very own capital in Satkut where Iminaurak spends most of his days.
Fifth Nation Raids[]
Between 674 BG and 675 BG, a war occurred between Iqaluit and Satkut, there were raids on small settlements across the South Pole where the Fifth Nation would successfully take a few before the resistance arrived and beat them back.
The Fifth Nation grew bolder throughout the year taking Ikagnak in the Nunavit region and Sisuuk in the Unalak region. Pressuring Iqaluit on both sides in 675 BG a year leader they finally laid siege to the capital of the Southern Water Tribe.
Iminaurak planned to move the capital from Satkut to Iqaluit if he successfully conquered the South Pole and sat on the throne of the palace he would command the South's armies. The pirates broke through the walls of Iqaluit spreading into the city killing warriors and civilians alike. Eventually reaching the palace before too many casualties forced them to retreat. One of Pirate Lord's lieutenants invaded the palace with a group while the chief was unidentifiable by the pirates and the royal guards defended it. Unaraq's and Tanaraq's mother Amka, was killed during the siege, the lieutenant forced himself upon her and strangled her after he satisfied himself.
Abilities[]
Iminaurak was born a waterbender and became skilled at his bending art but never mastered it. It wasn't until he founded his small pirate crew that a northerner taught him northern style waterbending, that he mastered it in two years. He created his own style, a mixture of both southern and northern style of waterbending teaching generations of Fifth Nation waterbenders this style.
Survivalist[]
Like all Southern and Northern Water Tribesmen, Iminaurak learned how to survive in the arctic wilderness of the South Pole. This was common knowledge and education.
Swordsmanship[]
After founding the Fifth Nation in 724 BG, he was taught by one of his inferiors to fight with swords mastering the art in two years. He is known to be a capable fighter even in his old age. Don't let the age and weakness fool you, he carries a hidden sword in his walking cane.
