Hailiu is the Haijun Kingdom's Crowned Princess who appears in the fanon in Avatar: Civil Strife.
History[]
Born in 1949 BG, as the heiress to the 28th Earth King's throne, Hailiu came as a surprise to Earth King Shuicheng and the Queen Consort as they expected a male heir. For the longest time during her childhood she was hidden from the public and Shuicheng lied about having a male heir to present to the nobles.
This has never happened before a female heiress being born before a male heir in the Duryajian Kingdom seat of power. Many times there might have been but the heiresses were directly married into other families and a new Dynasty was born. But with the plans Shuicheng had in mind, Hailiu's birth halted them for the time being. Eventually, Shuicheng learned to accept his daughter and proudly presented her as the heiress to the crown.
At the age of 12, Hailiu first met Avani when the Xinao family brought her to the palace for testing. Hailiu asked her father if she could be present during the testing of all children in the Upper Ring which was allowed. She wanted to call out the younger child for not kowtowing before the Earth King. But Shuicheng, ordered silence he understood that younger children especially toddlers aren't much aware of what goes on around them.
During the time that Hailiu grows up her father attempts to bring forth potential marriage partners to which she rejects. Hailiu understands what would happen if this occurred. She would lose power to her husband-to-be who would become Earth King, the princess might have been raised to be calm, obedient, and reserved but she has a will of her own. While she knows what's at stake she'll hold off a possible marriage after she's the Queen.

Hailiu was born a non-bender but she was taught by her father how diplomacy, politics, legislative powers, executive powers, and ceremonial powers work. She has also gained education of the highest order while also having a knack for tailoring.

- Hailiu means "still stay" in Chinese.
- Hailiu province was named after the Crowned Princess by Earth King Shuicheng, as the heiress is the pride and joy of the Earth King.
- Tuchubaolei means "bastion of prominence" in Chinese, this regnal name is given to Hailiu when she's crowned the next monarch of the Haijun Dynasty.
