Emiko is a mischievous non-bender who often finds herself flustered when put under pressure. She is a kind-hearted and nosy minor character with good intentions in House of Cards.
History[]
151 AG: Emi is born in Republic City. Her parents are both benders and artists. Her father's side is full of Metalbending cops. Ryota, five at the time, already shows Jiro's family's knack for earthbending.
153 AG: Chieko is born and it's not long before Jiro and Azumi realize they've got a firebender on their hands.
156 AG: Emi realizes that she's different from her bending family. She spends a week sulking before Jiro and Azumi realize what's wrong. To make Emi feel better, Azumi starts teaching her to bake.
156-164 AG: Emi spends time between learning to cook, starting to help her mom in the kitchen and finding her talents. It doesn't go too well and she has a tendency to drop new "passions" not long after beginning them. Though, she never really gets sick of sketching and baking.
164-166 AG: Emi goes through her bratty teenage years. When she thinks back on them now, she wonders how she could have been so annoying. Even her younger sister told her that she was a brat!
169 AG: Helping her mom stops feeling satisfactory. She feels like she's just following her mom's footsteps rather than making her own way. Even though Emi's mostly gotten over her bitterness about being the only non-bender in her family, it still does make her question her self-worth. She starts talking to her mom about maybe moving out and finding somewhere else to work... maybe specialize in baking since it's her favorite thing.
170 AG: The Equalist uprising happens and Emi is torn between agreeing with them that being a non-bender is a lot harder than being a bender and wanting to shock them with their own gloves for daring to insinuate that they'll steal her family members' bending. A few of her metalbending cop uncles and aunts loose their bending and it settles Emi's opinion that the Equalist movement is approaching equality all wrong. Though, she can't shake the feeling that they might have a point about there being some pretty bad inequality... For the rest of the year, Emi continues living with her family, if only to reassure herself that the Equalists won't hurt them.
171 AG: With the Equalists no longer stealing bending, Emi decides that now is the time to move out.
