The Earth Kingdom Royal Family is the ruling family of the Earth Kingdom. The current dynasty of the Earth Kingdom is the Hou-Ting dynasty, who succeeded the previous Hao dynasty.
New characters may be added to the royal family.
History[]
The earliest known member of the royal family was the 40th Earth King, who was shockingly assassinated by a mysterious, half-legendary figure known as Tieguai the Immortal.
Lady Yixing Pang, later Yum Soon Han, was a lady-in-waiting to the wife of the 44th Earth King, and mentor to both the wives of the 45th and 46th Earth Kings. She passed away in her nineties, but her death was later considered to be highly suspicious.
During Amak's employ in a prince of Ba Sing Se, there was a line of mysterious deaths in the royal family, with an ambitious prince who was once eleventh in line to the throne soon becoming the fourth.
The 46th Earth King ascended the throne after his marriage to Lady Yuzhu, the daughter of the Governor of the Yang Province.
For many years, the king and queen's eldest son, Ling, was Crown Prince of the Earth Kingdom. He married Lady Lihua. Their eldest son, Prince Chong-Shan was next in line for the throne, and became Crown Prince after Prince Ling's unexpected poisoning in early 267 BG.
The Earth King's brother, Prince Huaishen, had only one child before his death: Princess Shaoji. She was married to Lord Dewei Kui, and had one daughter, Lady Kaihua Kui, before passing away from a slow, wasting disease.
Duties[]
Traditionally, the Earth monarchy is the supreme, autocratic ruler of the kingdom, although even the most powerful monarchs cannot hope to govern the farthest-flung reaches of the kingdom. Since the peasant rebellion in Ba Sing Se, the monarch's role has become even more limited to ceremony and ritual.
