The Datian dynasty, formerly known as the Zhong dynasty, was the first dynasty in the history of the Earth Kingdom, which under Yi Di's rule finally united all of the Earth Lands.
History[]
After generations of Ba Sing Se Conquests, King Di Yi finally united the entire Earth Continent and nearby islands and took the title of Earth King. Five years after the founding of the Earth Kingdom, Di Yi died and his son, Guo Wang, took the throne.
Guo Wang began a period of strong totalitarianism and autocracy in the Earth Kingdom. He changed the name of the dynasty from Zhong to Datian. He wanted to be a deity for the entire people of the earth, with full power for himself and his successors for "a thousand generations". He was able to punish for the slightest signs of disobedience, as well as for not taking care of his duties, even if the circumstances did not allow the duty to be done on time.
During the reign of Guo Wang's daughter, Nu Wang, rebellions against the Datian dynasty began to intensify, with the aim of destroying the dictatorship. The Earth Queen ordered brutal suppression of any rebellion, which was effective for most of her reign.
Towards the end of Nu Wang's life, the Hao family rebellion began, under the command of General Tang Hao. After Nu Wang's death, Di Huang took over, expressing a great deal of incompetence that even Nu Wang did not display during Hao's rebellion. Di Huang ordered specific battles to be won in specific locations and set the maximum losses that generals could suffer in battles, and any manifestation of opposition, admonishment, attempt to argue, losing battles or incurring too many losses was punished by execution. Eventually, most of his commanders joined Tang Hao, who finally defeated Di Huang, who was deprived of generals, whom he either sentenced to death or scared off.
The Datian dynasty fell, and Tang Hao established the Hao dynasty, beginning the Hao period.
Legacy[]
Di Yi is remembered as the father of the nation, celebrated for his accomplishments during his lifetime. Guo Wang, Nu Wang, and Di Huang, on the other hand, have been cast into the margins of history, remembered only for being dictators. Sometimes, even a distinction is made between Di Yi's Zhong dynasty and the datian Dynasty established by Guo Wang.
Despite the dynasty's ill-remembered history and decline, it was the Datian dynasty that began the divine cult of the Earth Monarch, which became deeply embedded in the culture of Ba Sing Se and was used by subsequent Earth Kingdom rulers until the time of the 52nd Earth King Kuei.

- The Datian dynasty was modeled after the Qin dynasty: both dynasties unified their states and ruled quite totalitarian.
